BARF Militia

I've heard some mixed comments - depends on what you're looking for (LL gets mixed comments, too, but I couldn't be happier - my hubby has a cheaper LL iato, and loves his, too). We've got a few others - some wallhangers, and then some iatos that were made in Korea, but my LL still has the best handle. Pretty much anyone that has handled my sword says it's the best balanced they've tried.

I'd say they (CS) are a little less popular than the Paul Chen and LL blades, but prices are comparable. Bohi will add more balance, but the tang really makes the difference there. I haven't handled a CS before, so don't have any personal opinions. There's a sword forum out there (don't have the link with me, it's on my home 'puter), but if you wanted to read up, there are a lot of reviews on swords. PM and I'll send it to you if you're interested.

Just be careful - live blades are nearly as dangerous as cagers :cool . I've seen some pretty gory pics of people who have missed something, or accidently tipped the scabard and nearly died - those things can be amazingly sharp.

Went to the range today :teeth

We did some light pistol-work

But everyone was distracted for the most part

Brooke helped me out with the break-in process

Matt (Goof2 on barf) also helped out a lot with sending lead downrange

After that, it was pretty much the Brooke show :laughing :teeth

First impressions of the AR:

-Had trouble with a couple misfeeds, and couldn't break open the rifle because the bolt carrier was cocked back. Used a live round to remove the jammed round, all was good afterwards

-I think I over-oiled the gun :laughing It was weeping oil all day

-I love the light, punchy "recoil" (after the shotgun, you couldn't call what the AR did recoil)

-Breaking it open to reload after 10 shots wasn't that big a deal :cool

Sorry Bill.

Wish I could help.

If you want to set up a Bill's Medical Bills fund I'll pitch in. :teeth

Or if you have ammo for sale. I'm always buying that. ;)

nothing serious, just stuff that has to be taken care of before it becomes serious

There's also that Los Altos Gun & Rod club or something, up in the hills around 35 IIRC. But Metcalf is just soooo expensive for what you get. I shoot for $1 up at Yolo Sportsmen's in Woodland (by Davis) and it's got quite a bit less people, better shooting (carpeted pistol benches for example) and no one to harass me about my off-list rifles :teeth Sucks for you guys!

The los altos gun club is really great I've shot there a number of times. Bring aluminum cans, one of the few ranges that allows "rapid fire" on one of their ranges even for non-members. Also they have a bunch of clay throwers on posts you just pay for clays and you can use em all day. Fun and casual highly recomended. =)

ARRRRG!!! I just discovered that FN has discontinued the 9mm HiPower, and distributor inventories have already sold out!!! :cry

Thanks Mike. Good thing you posted that. I was gonna head down there to look for an O/U but luckily there's nothing I want in my price range. :teeth

I hear 9mm 1911s are pretty cool to shoot. Hope you can find one.

Yeah yeah, you just want to shoot it. :teeth

The Reed's ad shows this one but I want this one with the fixed sights. Hopefully, I can buy/order it at the sale price. Or even better - they have it there.

Or, I hope they have a Hi Power for cheap.

Well, duhhhhhh. :D

Someone on the calguns thread said that the Sprinfield reps are more than willing to work with you to sell you a gun so you shouldn't have a problem.

Just got back. They put the gun I wanted on order, and I paid for it up front, at the sale price. No real ETA on the wait, though! :cry
