But at least you can walk around with a holstered handgun.

Here's a funny story ...

Woman tries to kill mice, shoots self

A Potter Valley woman wounded herself and a man July 3 while attempting to kill mice with a .44-caliber Magnum revolver, according to the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office.

The woman, 43, had drawn the gun from a holster under her left arm, intending to shoot mice scurrying across the floor of a small travel trailer on Highway 20 in Potter Valley, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The revolver instead slipped from her hand and fired as it struck the floor, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The bullet went through the woman's right kneecap, then hit keys hanging on the belt loop of a 42-year-old man in the trailer, officials said. The bullet glanced off the keys and tore a hole in the man's pants.

The bullet grazed the man's groin before stopping in his coin pocket, where it was recovered for evidence, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The names of the shooting victims were not released.

Thats what I would say too, if I missed him. lol No sir, I wasn't shooting at his groin, I was aiming for the mouse. Really officer!!

Editorial: Regulate the sale of ammunition for handguns

Guns don't kill people; bullets do. Mainly bullets from handguns, the source of 60 percent of murders in California.

And yet the sale of handgun ammunition is unregulated in the state. Felons, gang members and others who are banned from possessing handguns can buy as many rounds of bullets as they want, no questions asked. And they apparently do, obtaining tens of thousands of rounds each year, according to a RAND Corporation study.

AB 2062 would make it tougher for criminals to buy handgun ammunition. The bill sponsored by Assemblyman Kevin De Leon, D-Los Angeles, would be an important step forward for public safety. It has passed the Assembly but faces a tough challenge in the Senate.

Most excellent. Also, no offense intended. I thought it was a chick, personally.

So what was with the alice and wonderland getup? Seemed a little odd.

None taken, first time I met her.

No idea about the get-up. My mum-n-law thought she was a dancer in a show or something. I just thought she was going for that japanese school girl thing.

Looked especially interesting when she was firing the M1A.

$220 is about the best price you're going to find for a 10/22. I've seen used ones go for less, but you have to be extremely diligent on checking the for-sale section on calguns.

Another inexpensive .22 to look into is the Marlin 60, or 795. I've had my Marlin for 13 years and it still shoots just as well as the day I bought it.

So I went out today and bought a 10/22. The 10 day waiting period will kill me though. :mad

Nice rifle. :thumbup Everyone should have one. ;)

And as Homer Simpson said, "Five days, but I'm angry now!"

Now, I need another piece of advice. I've been looking for a scope for my future rifle. I know that I have to get the rail mount too. I found this set: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=370066711074&Category=31714&_trksid=p3907.m29
Is that worth buying or is it just another ebay POS?

This site has some good selection too: http://www.opticsplanet.net/riflescopes-below-100.html Anything anyone wants to recommend?
Thanks alot.

The rifle should come with the mount. You'll have to get dovetail rings for it. Then I'd go with a 4x32 scope, your choice of which one. Anything bigger looks really out of place on the compact rifle.

From what I saw, non of the Rugers came with a mount. There are only 4 screws on the top of the receiver and it's all flat. Are 3-9x40 better than 4x40? I would think it would be nice to change the zoom.
