BARF Militia

Anyona have any experience with the Rock Island Armory 1911 45acp? I'm looking for a fun shooter. I tried out the Springfield 1911 at Target Masters and like it. The Rock appeals to me for it's finish looks like an issue colt from WWII. Also the price is nice about half compared to a Springfield.

Heard good things about it. I was looking into it last year because I wanted to build a Commander-length 1911. Check out http://www.1911forum.com

How the fuck does this game work Scorp!~ I can't tell the initial range to do the calculations. It's not like I can guesstimate or anything.

Also what is the MIL? Or is that what I use to determine range?

The little dots on the cross-hairs are called Mil Dots. They are a set distance apart, to represent a certain number of inches, say five, at 100 yards.

So, if you have a square 10" tall, and it fits perfectly between two dots, you know it's about 200 yards away.

Then you use that little "bullet drop chart" on the left side to figure that you should raise the elevation by 10 clicks to bring the bullet impact up, and then you hit the bullseye.

Of course, my numbers above probably don't match the game's settings, which is why I had such a hard time hitting everything.

But then again, I only ever use Kentucky Windage with my rifles :laughing

This website explains everything about Mil-ranging:

I'm looking to pick up a Benelli Nova Tactical soon. Does anyone know offhand if the two round extension is legal in CA?

I bought an extension for my Remy 870 at a gun show in SSF.
I believe the only regs for how many you can hold are for hunters using shotguns.

Have you shot a Nova yet? I found it to be akward and toy like.
I do like the Benelli auto loaders though!

I believe since it is a pump that there arent any mag extension limitations in CA. Remington and Mossberg have been selling 7-9 shot shotguns all along, IIRC. Except as has been mentioned, if hunting, then there is a limit

Wow, I don't know much about long-range shooting/sniping, but that sounded pretty impressive.

Thanks for the replies. No, I haven't actually shot one and am planning to go down to Sportsman Supply to check it out.

I do like the Mossberg 500, but was looking for alternatives in that price range (~$300-$400).

May I suggest what I have. The Remington 870 express combo. It's around 400 bucks you get 2 barells. One is 28" and has screw in chokes and a 20" that has a front site. I believe you can get different barell combo's with this gun check out Rem's web site for more details.
If you do get a shotgun I highly recomend getting a longer barell and take it trap, skeet and sporting clay shooting. It's the most fun I had shooting a gun. I even won a red neck merit badge in the form of most improve shooter silver belt buckle in a trap league I joined. Plus there is a place called cyote valley sporting clays which is like golf with guns. You ride on a golf cart to different "holes" and shoot at flying clays from all directions and even some "rabbits" that roll along the ground. With the 870 I have home defense and clay offense all with one gun.

On that note, let's help our snipers get the job done:

I donated money and bought a challenge coin.

Jeez, I totally forgot to post that link here.

Among the shooters at Cisco, we had a drive to include Adopt-A-Sniper in the company charity pool, which would qualify it for Cisco-matched donations. Unfortunately, it didn't go through, due supposedly to unclarities about the charity's tax status.

We still got some donations in, though.

3 Browning M2 .50caliber machine guns found in creek:

Fisherman Finds Machine Gun At Creek
3 Guns Found Near Fort Riley

POSTED: 7:24 pm CST December 30, 2004
UPDATED: 7:31 pm CST December 30, 2004

MILFORD, Kan. -- Authorities are trying to figure out how three large machine guns wound up at a creek near Fort Riley.

The Geary County sheriff's office said the .50-caliber Brownings were all unloaded but in good working condition. They've been turned over to the Army.

A fisherman found one of the machine guns Wednesday on the ice of Milford Creek, about two miles north of Milford. Sheriff's officers then searched the area. They found the second gun under the ice and the third in the grass on the bank of the creek.

All three guns were found in an area accessible to the public.

Sheriff Jim Jensen said the land is owned by the Army Corps of Engineers, and soldiers from Fort Riley have used it for training.

A spokesman for the Army post said he's unaware of any reports of missing weapons.

Man, why can't that shit ever happen to me? I think I still would've done the right thing though, turn in a machine gun.

I don't like the M44 or the Mini...I'm all about the dream team:

Springfield M-21, Remington PSS, Bushmaster AR-15...all with Leopold glass... and the Glock .40 for CQB
