Big5 took a bunch of us managers over to Livermore Gun Club to shoot all our guns :teeth

Mini-14 was eh, the .30-06/7mm hunting rifles were cool...but I had the most fun shooting trap with our full line of shotguns. It was awesome breaking clays with an 18.5" barreled Benelli Nova security shotgun :cool Over/Unders were cool, too.

The Vallejo gun show was dead today. I think the fear of not being able to buy ammo is over because there was plenty of ammo available and no lines to get it.

The only thing I bought was some 185 grain Hydra Shok .45 ACP, 50 rds, for about $45. I don't know how that price compares to other places but at least they had what I was looking for.

There seemed to be some pretty good prices on a lot different guns. It was really hard for me to not buy something. There was a Vietnam bring back Chinese AK47 that I almost bought for $500, but I need to save my money for a vacation later this summer so I didn't buy it.

That's awesome. Yeah, Mini-14's are meh... They're okay if you want a super-expensive plinker. I bought an SPR310 from Big5 and it's by far my favorite long gun.

I swore i wasn't going till the ammo shit died down. Spent the day at USI, saw Aaron who went yesterday and decided to roll the dice at 2:30 today. Skipped the parking fee (my choice too, guy was cool about it), still had to pay $10.00 to get in and bought 2000 rds .45 ACP new WWB and some other brand for more than WM price but less than the last show and another 500 rds of reloads for less than that. Couldn't believe how much ammo was still left this afternoon, 1 1/2 hrs before closing. Places still had primers and powders. Miwall said they didn't bring any .45 reloads this trip so i bought other ones from some place else. Things ammo wise are definitely looking up!!

Anyone ever get to shoot one of these and if so what did you think?

Law Enforcement Series
10 BAS-K – with AccuTrigger™ and 3D Bedding System
Shown with scope (not included)

$1,852.00

Those are pretty new, haven't seen one in person. I got to shoot a 10FP in 308 with the tupperware stock this weekend, and I was strongly considering buying a 10 for almost a year. Although I can't fault the accuracy, I just don't like how cheap and clunky the action feels. But I do love the barrel nut and interchangeable bolt faces.

I think that that BAS-K is a good idea, but bad mall ninja execution. The scope rail is mounted so high, you'd really need to adjust the hell out of that tiny comb. That means cleaning it will be a pain in the ass because you will always need to raise and lower the comb. Not only that, but it puts the scope way over the top of the barrel.

Also, I can't tell how the rail is mounted, if it is directly mounted to the receiver. They say it's "wraparound" and if that means it's mounted to the "chassis," then the scope can't be easily lined up with the bore, like on a M1A or SKS. And if they were shooting past 1000 yds, they must have had a scope with a ton of internal adjustment, because it looks to me like you are stuck with a 0 MOA rail.

Why not buy a 10FP and customize it with the left over $1100? Or buy ammo.

Or why not buy a Remington 700, Tikka T3, or Howa 1500? In fact, you could probably build a custom precision rifle for about that price. Assembly wouldn't cost much more than $150-$200.

Surgeon action: $766
Surgeon bottom metal and AI mag: $360
Shilen Match ss Barrel: $274
B&C stock: $205
Timney Trigger: $125
Nightforce 1-pc 20 MOA base: $120

Parts total: $1850

those things are actually quite fun to shoot:teeth

hey al im glad the vallejo show worked out for ya, Im pretty sure i saw 45 reloads on their table on sat though:thumbdown. but your right the whole ammo shortage thing seems to be clearing up a little. before you know it the hoarders are going to be putting their stockpiles up for sale for less then they paid:rofl

Someone educate me on buying a gun from callguns or gunbroker.

PPT, DROS, FFL, FTF, all are confusing the shit out of me.

If I pay for a gun that shipped to a dealer with an FFL wont that typically cost me an additional $50-$100?

PPT = Person to Person Transfer
DROS = Dealer Record Of Sale
FFL = Federal Firearms License
FTF = (in this case) Face To Face

The DROS is a state fee and is a mandatory $25. If you did a PPT type transfer (also referred to as a FTF) the state regulated fee an FFL can charge is $10. This is ONLY for PPT transfers. Internet transactions where someone mails the firearm to your FFL is not regulated and the FFL can charge whatever they want. $75-$150 is the average cost for this type of transfer (including the $25 DROS fee). There is no way around it.

About the least expensive FFL's out there are these two.

Rob Blank $65 incl DROS last I checked.

Also, prior to buying anything, make sure it's legal to buy and own in CA. If it's a handgun, make ABSOLUTELY sure it's on the safe handgun roster because if it's not, you're going to be SOL.

All good info except this part needs a little more explaining I think. You can not legally buy a gun from out of state, new or used, that is not on the safe handgun roster.
You can however buy gun that is not on the safe handgun roster if you are buying it from a private party who resides here in the state. For instance if an officer, who is exempt from the safe handgun roster, decided to sell you his pistol that wasn't on the list, that would be legal.
