Best performance tires for street use

Gonna cast another vote for Pirelli Angel ST.

I have Michelin PR3s right now and they are not as grippy and don't warm up as fast as the Angel STs that I had on my previous bike.
 
I read this as "I don't know what to say when my friends are talking about tires so I better get some other people's opinions so I can show my friends I am the real deal"

Michelin Pilot Road 3/4. whichever is cheaper.

I've been using Pilot Roads for years now but I have to say the PR3s didn't blow me away. I used to put a PR2 on the rear with a PP2 on the front and that worked great for me. I'm pending to spoon on a set of the Angel GTs as a change of pace to see how those do...as someone else said, any current street tires will be more than capable for street-appropriate pace (indeed many are fine for track days).

Me, I have had mixed results using st tires on a sportbike so I stay away from them.
I am just finishing off a set of Corse Rosso's on my 750 and was really pleased. I have 4500 on them and just getting to the wear bar on the rear. A definite step up over the Bridgestone S20's in my opinion.
Next on the list (in garage now) are a set of Q3's to try. Q 2's that I ran on a different bike were pretty much done at 3500 mi.
For your zuki you want to get a pointed profile to help get here to transition left to right and a round st tire is going to make her fell like a pig in the tight stuff.

PS, a 5mm shim under the the top mount of your rear shock will help as well for helping her turn.

The GT's are better than the older ST's. I would definitely suggest those (have over 9000 on mine right now).

You got 4500 miles out of a set of Rosso Corsas?! Not Rosso IIs, right?
 
And for everyone saying 'ST tires have all the grip you'll ever need'...it's not just about grip, which btw may be decent but certainly isn't near as good as a good sport tire. I can break loose the rear PR3 on my Tuono at lean wayyyyy easier than I did the Rosso Corsas that preceded them; the front tire feels likes its squirming like jello at times compared to the Corsas and the touring tire profile is just not conducive to the geometry of a sport bike. When I ride my T with PR3s back to back with my RSV4 with Supercorsas, the difference in tire performance is very noticeable. I/you may be able to 'get by' fine on PR3s, but they are not near equivalent to the riding experience of a good sport tire.
 
Well, I use ST and GT kind of interchangeably. I have tried P2's, P3's on several bikes as they had great reviews. On heaver bikes the P2's worked well for me, on lighter bikes I just couldn't get enough heat in to them with my riding style. The P'3s were ok on my Tiger 1050 but they take a little getting use to as the tread squirm was a little unsettling at first.
The deal here though Hooli is his bike is the same gen as mine and they don't like to fall into corners (compared to other late model sproatbiles) with out some effort. They are stable though once you get them healed over.
The steeper profile of a sport tire really makes a difference to me on this bike. I mostly ride dedicated twisty roads right out my back door so I might make a different choice if I was tooling around the BA highways or on more flowing roads.
Tire pressure also makes a difference as some folks like a nice hi pressure on their GT's which helps them turn and get great mileage, some to low on their sport tires which just eats them up. A lot of personal trial and error I find works the best for me rather than just asking on a interweb forum but I still do it anyway:p

Yep, the Corsa's. They have ben on all since late fall so I am running my winter pressures of 34F 36R. Not a inexpensive tire but good results.
By comparison the Q3's ($220 shipped) were more than $100 cheaper a pair. It was the same when I ran the Q2's , just hard to beat the price/performance point when they first came out ($200 shipped a pair).
Bike is now 1 year old, 5 sets of tires and 14500 miles.

Also, do you want short life or longevity?
 
This is the second thread, in my recent memory, to deteriorate with the mention of a Gixxer.

So true, squids gave these bikes a bad name.

But for those who have owned (me), do own or will own a GSX-R, they most likely don't care what anybody else thinks. :thumbup
