I honestly don't think the name has a direct link to the behavior of the membership. Where does the blame lay for the behavior seen on the GIXXER / Ninja / Subaru / V-Tech forums?

Look, I have no problem with BARF's name, the mascot, etc. I do kind of have a problem with a mod calling out Banjoboy for his schtick, when Budman follows up with indignation that someone would point out the juvenile nature oof the mascot, citing freedom of expression.

Yeah, it's his MO, but one would hope that more senior members, older members, would know when to employ their schtick, and own it and the repercussions from it. I can tell you that had that been directed at my wife, at the BARF dinner, that she, and I would have reacted in very different manner than seen in my post, schtick or not.

Banjoboy took flak (and a suspension it seems) for an "inside joke" that was unfair to lay on a newbie (who has been a member since 2012). The comment was interpreted as misogynistic apparently, even though it's an allusion to an inbred homosexual hillbilly from 1972.

BB got suspended for his reply to me, not for his original post. BTW: I withdrew my vote. The reason for the suspension should have been posted in the thread. I don't know why it wasn't. As for the new members original log-on date, I don't think that it is something we should hang our hat on, as it's only one of the variables to consider here.

There is some discussion in the Mod Forum regarding how to handle similar threads in the future. There was a suggestion to moderate the thread without focusing on a specific member or post. I see some value in that. We'll see how it goes should this come up again.

It only matters that you are fit, trim, and have a sexi attitude, that you are willing to get on your knees and worship these guys with your mouth, then move on to make them a sandwich.

Now see, that's an exaggeration but it is what is projected and tolerated. Most of the men that I've met on BARF are pretty above average and would tremble in fear if you came on to them .

If you can get the time off, do a BARF Rally. You will have the opportunity to ride some amazing roads, choose your pace, your company, and have an unforgettable great time.

G, I agree that there is entirely too much misogynistic behavior here on BARF. I do, however, think that things are improving. I attribute most of the improvement to the many strong female members here in our community who have stepped up and pointed out the behavior. Most/all of these women have experienced backlash and have stuck their guns. This is the reason that BARF is improving with respect to its treatment of women. Keep at it, folks.

I would also point out that BARF is miles ahead of many other online forums. This is something to note. Dennis and the mod core have done a pretty good job in helping to stem the tide of misogyny and to help the women be heard. I appreciate that a great deal.

In the end, BARF is just like any other community. We all have our flaws, and there will always be personality conflicts and differences of opinion. All we can do is to try to keep those discussions civil and respectful.

I figured that out after I posted. His reply probably was aggravating, though I'm not 100% clear on what section of the TOS he violated with it. I could hazard a guess (and would probably be right) but still think it's a gray area. Sometimes they are though. And if BB cared more, he would have been more careful in how he replied.

Most of the women riders I've met from BARF, are more of a bad ass than any of the men I've met. Most would scare me back to a pant-pissing little welp with a stern look, let alone a raised tone in their voice, Mama-G included.

Have you ever met the guy?

He is 180 out from his online persona, and having introduced him to my girlfriends, he has never been anything but a gentleman to them. Yes, he might hit on me in their presence, but I haz a purdie mouf so who can blame him.

I really can think of very few people who are a better representation of BARF than BanjoBoy. A smart, fast typer, who can ride the wheels of any bike you put under him. The guy has bent over backwards to help people out, including myself, with no expectation of profit or gain in return.
