sooo

so much negativity.

i dont understand why everything you guys have to say is negative.

my only problem is i dont get why you guys are trying to involve law enforcement. its going to just cause more problems for riders and drivers. you guys are all up there way more than we are. and the speeds ive seen SOME of you ride at are definitely not legal. lets just share the road. and be happy. :banana

Do you understand that speed isn't the issue we are trying to discuss? It is the pass, over the double-yellow, in a blind turn.

1. Lane splitting looks more dangerous than it is. Very few motorcyclists are injured or killed lane splitting (I would submit far more are "togue" victims). Doing it at very high speeds (30+ mph differential?) is probably dangerous, but we as a community try to police dangerous riders like that...of course, they are self-policing. When a motorcyclist crashes, it's just him hurt or killed almost every time. Can you say the same about four-wheeled drivers?

2. If there's a bike on your ass, pull over. He's faster than you and probably a better, safer rider than you are a driver. follow him and maybe you'll learn something, if you think anything outsidfe YouTube videos and "The Fast and the Furious" is worth learning. If you're a good driver you would have no trouble staying ahead of most motorcyclists on Redwood road.

3. I'm glad you're staying off Redwood road, especially if you're the kind of dickhead who won't pull over for faster traffic, which is in itself a violation of the CVC.

Turning Out of Slow-Moving Vehicles

21656. On a two-lane highway where passing is unsafe because of traffic in the opposite direction or other conditions, a slow-moving vehicle, including a passenger vehicle, behind which five or more vehicles are formed in line, shall turn off the roadway at the nearest place designated as a turnout by signs erected by the authority having jurisdiction over the highway, or wherever sufficient area for a safe turnout exists, in order to permit the vehicles following it to proceed. As used in this section a slow-moving vehicle is one which is proceeding at a rate of speed less than the normal flow of traffic at the particular time and place.
Amended Ch. 448, Stats. 1965. Effective September 17, 1965.

And:

Yielding for Passing

21753. Except when passing on the right is permitted, the driver of an overtaken vehicle shall safely move to the right-hand side of the highway in favor of the overtaking vehicle after an audible signal or a momentary flash of headlights by the overtaking vehicle, and shall not increase the speed of his or her vehicle until completely passed by the overtaking vehicle. This section does not require the driver of an overtaken vehicle to drive on the shoulder of the highway in order to allow the overtaking vehicle to pass.
Amended Sec. 9, Ch. 440, Stats. 1996. Effective January 1, 1997.
Amended Sec. 40, Ch. 724, Stats. 1999. Effective January 1, 2000.

YOU GUYS FLY THROUGH DEAD STOP TRAFFIC AT HIGH SPEEDS! do you realize how dangerous that is? i almost hit a biker in traffic because he was flying by me so fast that i couldnt even tell he was that close to me. ive been through redwood/pinehurst numerous times in which there was a bike behind me ON MY ASS! and you know what? to me it was all fun and games. i mean sure ill try my luck and try to outrun a bike. sometimes it happens but i mean cmon.. if you guys do that type of sh*t to a driver who isnt too experienced youre gonna drive him off a cliff. no one wants some bike on their ass hell of loud pressuring them.

one of my best friends rides a bike. he also touges a car. and you know what? he respects both. and he has told me how some of you guys ride throughout the bay area and youre no better than divine. i was pulled over on pinehurst the other week and a see a biker from far away. i throw up my peace sign and what does he do? HE FLIES BY ME A FULL THROTTLE INCHES FROM ME. i seriously almost felt his clothes as he flew by.

so congrats.. you will never see me in my car on redwood again.

I just heard about this from another forum and that whole stuff about crossing the lines is retarded......
Thanks for posting up, here. I posted on the other forum in a more friendly manner so that maybe some rational thinkers would take charge of the loose cannons.

And I know loose cannons. I use to see one every time that I looked in the mirror.
:newbie

Hmm... whatddya know! The DMV website says the plate is available!

:laughing

I'm so proud... :rofl

Noooo... damn there goes half my prediction.

oh Well Come GG1000 for the Win.

"Get yer motor runnin'.... " :teeth

I just heard about this from another forum and that whole stuff about crossing the lines is retarded. I don't think that is a good idea to even do that in the day with all the public around in which more then just one person will get hurt from this. I just lost a friend for doing this in a track subaru rs and the car ended hitting another car which was a dually pickup, The accident was so bad that the rs was torn into 2 pieces and my friend died at the scene. All that stuff should be done at a track where no one will get hurt and you can go as fast as you want. Hearing this happening in a area that has tracks everywhere you can go to it shouldn't be hard to run your car there. The area I live in there is only 1 track that is close and thats 45 minutes away all the other tracks are 5 hours away. So I don't see why you have to do this in traffic and may even cause someone to die just by hitting something. Just remember my friends car had a cage and was already set up to be a track monster, all it took was a run on a back road and a dually to just rip the car into 2. So just think about your reactions when you do this. So what if no one got hurt now but something will happen down the road and all it takes is one time to mess up someones life. This is all I'm going to say about this.

I'm so sorry for your loss... :rose losing a friend, even when they're doing something they love, is so difficult, and it leaves such a hole in your life. Redwood Road cost me dearly last October, when someone very special to me died there while riding.
Thank you, so much, for sharing your story with us. I truly wish more drivers had your perspective... without having had to pay such a terrible price.

my only problem is i dont get why you guys are trying to involve law enforcement.

It's a long thread with a lot of noise, and maybe you missed a key point. The problem driver has not really owned his actions. Everything was the fault of someone else. He and his apparent friends have indicated that their way of driving is not going to change. I have offered in this thread to have a meeting with him and his parents regarding our interaction and his driving. He hasn't responded. In the absence of some verifiable evidence of voluntarily changed behavior, it appears that the best option to prevent a tragedy is involve law enforcement.

Clear?

Ok hes 19, but does he still live at home? Thought I read somewhere that parents are still on the hook for any actions of a child under 25 still living at home. So if he takes someone out, mommy n daddy have to pay as well.....

Primarily because they are the ones with the potential to lose their house if Masaki kills or severely injures somebody. He is a 19-year old college student. Of course people are assuming his parents (or his grandparents, or his fairy godmother, or another random benefactor) bought him his car. Part-time work doesn't cover 30K sports cars + insurance + mods + tuition + enough to support yourself. If he (or you) says that only his money goes into his car, even if it were true it would only be possible if his parents continue to pick up every other expense for him, which means the first point of this post remains accurate.

Common sentiments expressed from the BARF side of the house:

Someone please point me to where he said he would change his ways; all I saw was a warning about which hours he plans to keep driving like a retard.

He and his apparent friends have indicated that their way of driving is not going to change.

A statement some of you may have missed:

redwood road is my favorite road to be on. and from now on when you see me on this road, i am in my own lane, driving will be to and extent where it won't endanger other drivers or riders but still in my mind of having fun, and yes i know what that is and how it feels like.

We'll see, but at least he's given an indication that he'll stay on his side of the road.

19yoa assume a lot of things about life. And a parent with many more years of life experience will understand a parent to parent talk. If the OP were to have a heart to heart with divz, do you really think divz will give a damn? Hardly, it's another "parental" lecture.

In regards to divz owning a 350z, what does he do for occupation because I need to get into that line of work.:rolleyes

Precisely, although the age of "Independent" classification is 24. But yea I'm splitting hairs. :thumbup

lolz. like he can be trusted to drive "how he feels like". the way he's going he'll be blowing the DY on accident if not on purpose.

i say 2 options: proof of track day or get parents involved. punk is lucky he's not in jail.

really? what is the track gonna do even if he goes there? you think just becuase he goes to one track event that would mean no more redwood?

that's the idea :laughing

you want expensive hobbies? do it legally. street racing is a crime.

If the goal was to embarass and call out the douchieness of the Z driver then this thread succeeded!

The downside is an great opportunity was lost soon as gixxergirl started with the flirting and leghumping at the Z forum and the onslaught of name calling began here. Don't get me wrong, I had more than one chuckle in this thread and many great barf moments were created but I feel that a chance to educate got lost in the fun. I fear that even more cars are going to hate us now.

Flame away.
