Dating is Expensive, Holy Hell!

Separate checks seems lame. ......

I do feel she drinks much more than I. Time will tell if it's an issue. Right now it's not.

I enjoy to cooking and we've done that several times. I was using the weekends date as an example how I feel some of my hobbies/interests (which seem to be on the pricey side) might have to be curtailed a bit. Some adjustment, not a big deal I hope. And how the early stage of dating seem to be expensive cuz just staying in and netflixing doesnt cut it.
Yes, separate checks are lame. Good on ya'.
Find cheap drink place(s), if there is such a thing in California.
Hobbies on the expensive side? Like motorcycles, or what?

BTW, I spent more than $45 per person three (3) decades ago on Sushi, so I am not sure what the f' you are bitching about. It's f'ing Sushi. If you do it Full Monty, it will cost ya'. The best uni to ya'. :thumbup

"He ate three freakin waffles, 14 strips of bacon and 25 mimosas!!! I was so mad I told him he'd have to be a bit less indulgent at lunch"

The good news is, I got like three free meals and a night with Dubb's girl and he didn't even call me out by name.

:party

Yui Marlu in Fair Oaks and I hate even telling anyone about it because it's small, it's good and while I want them to thrive ... I want my table/place at the bar when I get there dammit. :x

To my knowledge they don't have a website but here's the info from Yelp.

http://www.yelp.com/biz/yui-marlu-fair-oaks

Awesome. River ride to Suzy's, anyone? :teeth

I still need to try Mikuni sushi in Sac. I hear a lot about it. TJ Dillashaw and Chad Mendes swear by it too. Maybe for dinner tonight.

All the sushi talk has me Jonesin for some.

I dunno who those dudes are but Mikuni is very good. People complain about the price but they're usually the same millennials touting the ramen and sake selection of some other sushi joint on yelp. That's not saying other places above aren't good.

Happy hour (sushi bar) is a great way to try out Mikuni. Selection isn't that great, but it won't break your wallet either. Ask the chef about any special sashimi not listed on the menu. They do get their share of bluefin. Also, if you're a night owl, Mikuni Elk Grove has a reverse happy hour, +10pm on Fridays (bar or table).

Went to a bar in SJ yesterday after selling art to a BARFer. Had a few drinks and met this pretty girl. Ended up making out with her in the bar. Other guys were buying her beer trying to get at it. So costs to me: $4 for her 1 beer, $2 on pool. :laughing

And as a contrast couple weeks ago different girl i was dating: $120 at the Dead Fish restaurant, and $20 on drinks at Port Costa, ugh. Not to mention helping the chic with some dough to get her car smogged. Dumb ass I was. (Yes I hit the skins.)

And a different girl the other day, $25 for drinks, $25 for Denny's. :laughing

Porn is way cheaper.

that's the part that separates you from teh Dubbs...That part never happens to him..lol

Where are you getting rolls for $4 that aren't California rolls?

Everything seems to be between 9-15ish when I go to a sushi house.

What's it called? I need Sac sushi recommendations

Kru is pretty good. Ive been there a few times...

if you want something more cheaper, the Blue Nami restaurants are good. There is one in roseville and one in Fair Oaks I believe. I would go to the one in Fair Oaks (Greenback and Hazel)

It's significantly cheaper for me to make a girl a gourmet dinner with the best wine and 4 courses and dessert than eat out virtually anywhere. Plus they love it when you make it all formal with courses and a nice place setting and home made dessert.

I understand the point your making, but that is not always the case. You want to make tiramasu for dessert? Well you need $5 chocolate, $12 vanilla extract, $9 in coffee, $6 in lady fingers, $20 for rum, $5 for eggs, $2 for cream, $6 for mascarpone cheese, $5 in sugar and $5 in milk. Just like that you have $75 invested with dessert if you don't already have the ingredients.

The idea for me behind going out to dinner is simply so I don't have to invest the time in preparing the meal. My time is more valuable than $45, that's why I wouldn't bat an eye at an $85 tab if that's what it came to.

This.

And after reading Dub's fit regarding the other dude it made me wonder...is this Dub?

I've got most of that stuff on hand. Honestly, to make tiramisu tonight all I'd need is the mascarpone. It's a give and take. I can make a nice 4-course meal for 8 for the cost of going out for 2. I made dinner (main course + dessert) for 8 on Tuesday (normal, midweek) and it cost probably less than $60. Expensive things were the fish, cream cheese, and strawberries (mmmm cheesecake). And I had lunch the next day.

The thing that gets me is the DISHES. Bleh, I hate them.

Thats all 'nesty' and too early for most 1st-10th dates..

Oh you silly guys, how is this even a debate? 1st date, 4th date, 20th, or married for 30 years....we all pay for it one way or the other no matter what. Be it time money or both.

Kru, great restaraunt with very good Sushi in Sacramento.

Top UFC/mma fighters based out of Sacramento. Sorry. I sometimes forget combat sports aren't as popular as foosball and stickball.

Another +1 for Kru sushi, went there a few years ago and loved it.

Thanks, peeps. Gonna try out both places this weekend.

Mrs. Cat,
When it comes to the command of a kitchen and preparing a meal. It is a given or understood that you are an exception to the rule :thumbup As you noted its a give and take. The intent of my post was to say, the cost of the meal isn't what drives my interest in dining out, its the time I save by not cooking.
