Well, I first run a couple of loops - barefoot, then ride another four loops carrying 100lb pack on my back filled with randon items like a clothing iron, green bowling balls, a couple of out-of-work actor midgets, some pho, and maybe another MTBer for good measure. Then, after that warm up...

Nothing wrong with carbon, and as long as there is nothing totally visually wrong I wouldn't hesitate. Carbon is stronger than aluminum, just is more prone to getting damaged from a crash and that should be visable.

That bike inparticular I'm not sure about as the pictures are terrible

Hey BTW interested in a used 07 Talas RLC for cheap? Has some scuffs and scratches (just on the body) but works perfect

I think I can do that. I promised my son I would take him bike riding so I can do that in the morning and meet up with you guys at one where ever it is. Hell I have a GPS. I did get a back spasam today lifting a toliet out of a its box today. It wasn't a big one but could be better by tomorrow. Hell if I could work all day after that I should be able to ride dammit..
