Indian Scout FTR1200

Anyone going over to Arlen Ness and check it out? I called, you can look, sit on it and they will be firing it up. No rides. I may go over on Friday. Do not like the 33" seat height, I never had a flat tracker with a seat that high.

that's a great offer, thx

Just got back from the first look at Hapa's brewery. Met a lot of cool people along with the owner of Spirit motorcycles. Got to see the bikes first hand, sit on all of them and even got to turn the race replica on. Very cool start up screen which I won't spoil for others.

The bike is sexy. Erin got to sit on the back and said it was a comfy two up which is a good cause I'm looking for a bike that she will be able to be on with me.

The seat height was a little shocking. I'm 5'11" and was not flat footed at all but I think this was due to the stock seat being really wide. I'm sure an after market seat would do wonders. I also noticed how high up you sit on the bike. It's almost as if I'm sitting on top of the bike which is new to me.

Handlebars are wide but tilted back enough to get a good grip without leaning over to much. Lots of clutter on them though.

Weight really wasn't an issue. Most of it is low but the tank is a little wider than I'd prefer.

TFT screen is cool. Lots of options and control both from the screen and handlebars was slick and very easy to use. Probably the best I've seen on modern bikes.

The headlight is nuts. Super bright and centered dead on. I was really impressed by it and that's kinda silly to say.

Pretty sure it's the CARB requirements but that bike sounded anemic. Kinda upsetting but I'm sure that can be fixed.

Stock tires will have to go. Looks cool but if you want to push it on the street you'll need proper tires.

All and all it's a cool bike. Has some stuff I could bitch about but why bother focusing on that. I'm fairly certain this is the new ride.

8/10 for me

Anyone else check the bikes out? I'd love to hear what you thought of it.

I, too, attended the SJ showing - arrived for 6pm opening, yakked awhile with the friendly pair o'marketing gals attached to the 3 [not 5] standard FTRs [not packages, just different paint schemes]

the bike has great presence & level of fit/finish is pretty high - no accessories seen, tho recently announced wire wheels & the sensible luggage rack are the only pieces I covet anyway

bike is w-i-d-e @ tank/seat junction, barely flat-footable, seat/cockpit seems comfy - locking gas cap is far back, very close to valuable bits

within 30 minutes I'd gathered brochure + stickers for myself [& budman!] & heard the bike fired up [meh] -
sparse early crowd [bcz target-market bikers all @ Jeff Sessions protest?] & still no free beer by 6:40pm, so I bailed.....

All the videos they've posted of it the sound has not been played up, which surprised me. The times I've heard it, it's sounded as lame as my 800GS.

I'll probably head out to Arlen Ness this afternoon to check out the FTR. Ill probably ride some of the 2019 Indians since I'm there LOL.

Headed for Arlen Ness in about 10 minutes. If you see :afm199 man in a Stockton Motorcycle Club jacket say hello.

Bike looks better in person than in the pictures. The only problem is it is too HIGH. Damn the wide 31" high seat feels higher than my Multistrada. Hope someone makes a kit to lower it. Arlen Ness only had the one bike. They did not fire it up when I was there. But it is pretty :teeth

Sorry to have missed ya Bill. I agree that the bike is nicer in person. The height was pretty spot on, but I'm 6' with a 32" inseam.

I took the Indian Bobber out for a spin as the salesmen said it would have the most similar engine character. Might have been a mistake doing that, it was a way nicer ride than I anticipated.......

I went to the showing at Hapa’s as well. Free beer was the hook.
The bike looks good, especially the tribute model with its red frame. The bike strikes me as another flavor of naked bike. Surely a fun bike to ride. Not for me, but will likely sell well. I applaud Indian’s efforts to make a flat track replica.
19 inch wheels? How well is it going to turn?

Yup they used the Empulse parts, so where's the electric version then Indian?

Which parts came off the Impulse? Brakes, forks, sprockets and chain? There will be an electric Indian but I think it's still kind of early for electric motorcycles to be profitable but that's my opinion.

I can't tell those two bikes apart. Sarcasm

Other than photo taken at the same angle what are we suppose to be seeing here.

Look at the swing arms, brakes, forks, clamps. even the kickstand assembly looks the same. The Sachs rear shock same the reservoir is a piggyback style versus the Empulse is remote. Maybe even the handle bar. There is a lot that is the same.

The front fender is very similar just shorter. The Empulse has a hugger where the FTR has a rear hugger plate holder instead.

I know the upgraded forks on the Empulse are gold also.

The brake rotors looks a tad bit smaller on the FTR, but even the wheel looks similar.

It's not an exact copy but you can see a lot of the parts and design is very similar to the Empulse. They got to do something with all that tech they purchased from Brammo right?
