More truck talk. All-electric Ford F150 Lightning.

Or maybe a vehicle that runs solely on electricity is disproportionately affected by the global chip shortage?

Is it even a disproportionate amount? Completely reasonable that Ford is prioritizing production based on what they think is necessary for the current market.

The big frunk is a really nice feature. Easily accessible, lockable storage in addition to a regular truck bed is a nice benefit of an EV pickup.

That is the one of the worst graph designs I've ever seen :laughing

Meh. I'm waiting for the 500 mile Cyber Truck.

Unless the Silverado/Sierra comes out with similar mileage and a lower price. Then, one of those for me.

I mean, the sideshow potential alone is going to be a game changer in Oaklamd.

I don't see that feature working very well on pavement.

Speaking of Rivians. I actually saw one in the wild last week in Woodside.

Engineering is pretty close by in Palo Alto so I’m not surprised.

They’re actually recruiting me right now. We’ll see.

Perhaps. I really think its a battery supply chain constraint. If they can produce a lot of Mach-Es then they may not be ready to sell a lot of F150 Lightnings. Demand is a good problem to have until you realize that someone making more sales than you.

Ford is still working on its ~$1 Billion debt from the ~2008 ATVM DOE Loan. They had do defer a number of payments and that was not good because they could not pay dividends to investors. Its interesting that what they spent money on is now old technology and they are still paying for it.

It seems that only one company in the auto industry has secured a good plan for battery cell production. Its a American company, but not Ford.

Foo, that is why somebody has a lawn you can get up on. Town bidness. :x

So I wonder if F-150 Lightning will be the first modern EV truck to go on sale then?

I have a reservation for the Cybertruck but it's kinda looking like vaporware at this point so it'll probably be way late and higher priced.

If the government doesn't renew the incentives for Tesla, then I'd rather get this instead since it's so much cheaper. Then again, won't Ford run out of incentives since they supposedly are selling a lot of the MME?

No interest in the Rivian from me. I'd be curious to see how much of the adventure bro crowd they can capture with that truck.
