I think probably so. I heard he went into the supplemental, because his academics were in question for qualifying next year. He jumped to the NFL before dummying out of College Football. A lot of guys felt like he would be a First Rounder next year if he played at the same level, so it was a calculated risk, but I think probably not a good one. I usually frown on this type of gold prospecting. I pooh pooh'd Eli's trade for the first 2 years too though. :laughing

Still, if he comes back next year and even plays at a 2nd Rounder Level, I guess he is still a deal. Problem is our backfield depth is thin as fuck. Apple and Jenkins are both hreal solid starters, but after that, we kind of fall off a Depth Cliff. Makes it hard to line up in the Nickel. Beal was supposed to be the missing 3rd Guy.

Yeah, that was a head scratcher considering there are so many more people out there who'd jump at a chance for a date with him. And I don't care what Eldy says she is not anywhere near "fine as hell."

I’m with you on that. I do reserve “fine as hell” for people who I think can carry a moniker of that level. She ain’t it.
 
Does anyone else have anything of note on their teams? My 9ers are coming out as expected: D is light years ahead of O at this point. Most of the talk is blah blah. Pads go on tomorrow. I’ll be right across the street from the facility tomorrow. Might have to drag my best friend, the Fecals fan, over to see if we can get tickets to watch a bit of practice. We’re going CaX tomorrow.

The Defense is a huge question mark for NYG. Switching to a 3-4, moving DE to OLB, I think the overall effect on the Front 7 will be net positive and probably better than last year. With the exception of Landon Collins being one of the best in his position in the game, most the rest of the secondary is suspect. FS is a question, Eli Apple and Janoris Jenkins are good starters, but after that, we have a garbage heap of low picks and undrafted free agents that we are hoping will bubble up to useful.

We need an unproven front 7 to be disruptive enough to not expose how weak we are against the long ball. Sounds like a problem.

The offense will swing one of two ways. It will either be the Nuclear Powered monster that it should be on paper and provide top 5 level play, or it will fall on its face and Eli will be forced into retirement. This team has more top tier receiving weapons than any in the league and now the Monster Back with sft hands who was the missing piece. The O-Line, while not the same level of protection the Saints, or Shitbirds are getting, is upgraded this year to a middle of the pack Unit, a reasonable cast of professionals. An offense this loaded simply cannot fail unless the QB is junk. If Eli cannot get back to his 2015 form after 2 years of terrible O-Line protection, he should probably walk away.

t'would be mackenzie fucking it up. Although I can see why it would be tough to give a defensive player QB money. If they did pay him ~$20m, he should be responsible for the overall defensive team's production, like a QB. And even though Mack's individual accomplishments are unquestioned, he maybe, maaaybe has kept them to only a bottom-10 defense from a bottom 3. If they factor in everything they do for a QB's salary, there's no way mackenzie or anyone reasonable would justify it. I hope it gets resolved soon.
 
When you have an arguable top 5 defensive player in the NFL, you pay him.

they exercised his 5th year rookie option. 13M+ isn't quite good enough apparently. Big Red seems to want to pay in the 15M/year range, whereas Mack wants ~20. so, a big gap.

Yeah, he wants, "Ego," money, so we will have to see how that works out. I know my team would tell him to eat a bowl of dicks if he did that to us, but the Raiders play a different kind of ball.

So, like, he is essentially asking for QB money. The thing is, a QB is usually held accountable if the overall offense isn't great. Like, he may not get shit canned, if the running game sucks and the O-line is weak(Eli), but you don't drop a new out of time Blockbuster deal on the dude either.

Maybe Mack Truck wants to jump ship to the Niners and stay in da Town?
 
Johnny Manziel is going to start his first CFL game on Friday for Montreal, against Hamilton, who just traded him.

I’ll watch to see how he does. I’ve been watching a few CFL games over the past few weeks, it’s pretty entertaining.
