NFL 2018/2019 Thread

Franchise tag will be $20M for Mack. Stupid to take less than that.

Basically hearing it's just Mack and Aaron Donald's agents having a pissing match, because whoever signs first will get a smaller contract.

He is under contract this year, but yep and rumor is Raiders are cash poor. I hear teams must put all or a lot of the total contract money in an escrow account once the contract is signed, and the Raiders don't have this cash on-hand. So Mack will most likely have to play for only 13.8M this year, then he'll get franchised for ~20M next year. Once franchised, it's an unwritted rule with the players as their only bargaining chip is that he's almost guaranteed to walk after that.

I don't want it to play out this way but it looks like the way it's going to go down. The Raiders will/should have Mack for 2 more years then he'll bolt. Maybe somehow Las Vegas will pay Davis more upfront money and he can take care of it next year, but I have serious doubts.

Fucking broke-ass Raiders :(

Johnny Manziel is going to start his first CFL game on Friday for Montreal, against Hamilton, who just traded him.

I’ll watch to see how he does. I’ve been watching a few CFL games over the past few weeks, it’s pretty entertaining.

No shit?

Where can I watch these games? After the Cleveland disaster, I actually hope he gets his shit together and can manage to get back into the NFL and see some success. Everybody loves a redemption story.

I think ESPN 2 is showing the game Friday night...

ESPN2 on Friday...

When Manziell beat the 9ers in 2015 for his 2nd win of the season he would have twice as many wins as the Browns over the next 2 seasons. :laughing

There's no way CLE does that again :laughing They're not going to be great this year, but they should be able to get a handful of wins. First game is apparently against the Steelers, though, so.... that first victory might have to wait

They have so many solid guys on that team now. They remind me of the Niners before Harbaugh. There is this whole, "How the fuck are you this bad with this much talent?" thing. Baalke and Singeltary were the problem. It will just take one little change in leadership somehow and that team will be on fire.

With that new GM in place this year, I suspect this will be Hue Jacksn's last year in Ohio. Then whoever they bring in as the new guy next year will burn the whole league down.

That would be a great start to the season if Big Ben and the Steelers lost.

with josh gordon's issues, there's rumors that dez may end up in CLEland. I would be interested to see that.

He's just avoiding being on Hard Knocks.

That's the worst kept secret in the league at this point.

WTF at this point if i was head coach gruden, im pulling $$$ from coaches and my own salary to land mack....

srsly! i mean, why fuck around? the only thing that makes sense is that they're literally cash poor. which I believe. fml

Their defense sucks with or without Mack. I'd trade him and get some draft picks and flexibility

actually, that makes a lot of sense. he's a hell of a talent. it'd be great that he can figure out the stupid rules so he can make the bank someone like him deserves. seems like an ok guy. no domestic violence. no crazy illegal shit. just some weed and a dui right? tremendous talent.

Doesn't he have 2 years left on his deal? NYG standard protocol is, "Fuck you, individuals do not matter, you signed your deal, you play to till the end of your deal. End of story. We MAY pay you when your deal is up for negotiation."

That is how football is supposed to work. A contract is a contract.

he has one more year. his rookie contract had an option for a 5th year. the raiders exercized that option. for 13.8M. I mean, it's not a shitty deal. but he's at least an $18M guy if not more. I can see where he's coming from. It just sucks that they can't come together and work it out so as to not hurt the product on the field.
