NFL 2020

RG3 got fucked over by Shanahan the elder.

Kaep got shut down by Harbaugh and Greg Roman, they tried to turn him into anv Alex Smith game manager dink and dunk guy.

Lamar got exposed by New England in the playoffs. They forced him to be a pocket passer and he couldn't do it.

There's a big difference between a QB that is mobile and a running QB. Russ Wilson is mobile. That fucking asshole can keep plays alive for 10 seconds after his non-existent line breaks down. Mahomes is similar. They can buy time, but if they have a pocket they can make legit throws.

Also, just in general pocket passers last way, way longer than mobile or running QBs.

jimmy g had some good games, you gotta give it to him.

Russell Wilson does to the 9ers what Elway used to do to the Raiders. It's insanely frustrating.

The kid definitely falls into that Steve Young mold of the mobile gunner, he is a major talent. Mahomes too. I watched Lamar Jackson play some games and I tell you what, I think that kid has the potential to do it all and be some kind of super mutant, but if coaching there keeps asking him to run for 1,000 yards every season, his instincts will be ruined even before his body is. Personally, I hope they let him play QB and develop his gifts, because that dude could be amazing to watch if they let him throw and build him a team to throw to.

That’s not what the stats say or have been saying the past three years.

The boss is the boss. No matter execs and understudies, the boss calls the shots and the picks. I think I already covered the salary cap issues of the aging Seahawks and their financial rebuild somewhere in this thread or earlier, which has been the reason for the last three years of "stats." Schneider's most glaring mistake is not forcing Pete to make Schottenheimer take a hike.

Don't get me wrong, Scot has talent and whether he struck gold with the 49ers and faded into alcoholism or he just plain started sucking, there's no question his time in the NFC west solidified a well-deserved reputation as good evaluator of talent. I think when he was with the Redskins he put together winning seasons- if he made it that long??? Do I want him back with the Seahawks? Absolutely. But to give him primary credit for their success is just too much cart in front of the horse for me.

When the team is up against the cap you have to keep things going thru the draft and smart FA moves. Giving up two #1 picks for a safety is neither of those. That's why Schneider isn't the guy who put together the LoB. The player personnel choices weren't his. Just the rubber stamp and it's starting to show more as we get further away from Scot's tenure there.

Not sure what you're getting at.

They've done a shit job giving their MVP caliber QB other weapons on offense, and protection on the O-Line. The offense literally just expects him to pull shit out of thin air.

I'm getting at your insinuation their success depends on the effects of one man. I already agree to the extent they don't expect him to pull it out of thin air, but he overcomes the inadequacy of Schottenheimer's play calling.

I think only he, Mahomes, Watson (and possibly Murray) have that ability in today's NFL. It's too bad Dak gets lumped in there too.

Hightower opting out of the season. That's an irreplaceable player that makes me more nervous about a full season.

Pats have 6 that have opted out so far. Patrick Chung, too.

I guess I'll have to wait until they get to #1-10 of the NFL 100 to see Carr's name come up...

:toothless

What is showing exactly? Lack of winning records? Not making the playoffs? Not winning it all?

The defense is sliding. The holes that show up at the end of each season are not being filled well and instead they've decided to swing for the fences rather than relying on solid talent evaluation. And when Wilson's game starts to slide it's going to get uglier. So, it may be more than a one man boat but he's doing the overwhelming amount of bailing. His pail holds more and he's scooping fastest.

Or for whatever reason (family, climate, geography, culture, etc.) players haven't been willing to come. We don't know the nuances (especially financial) that go on behind the scenes, I can only go off what's available. But I'd say they relied on solid talent evaluation when making this swing for the fences. Who's to say what becomes of it at this point? All I know is two number one picks+ is a steep price to win sooner rather than later. If it means the Seahawks are pissing off the world again and dashing niner fans hopes, I'm all for it.

Yes, the defense has slid. I've made no bones about it.

looks like seahawks have about 54M in cap space next year, with a lot of key players already under contract. https://overthecap.com/salary-cap-space/

they seem a little stingy on spending anywhere near the salary cap, especially when considering RW is counting 31M per year on it. Iupati getting 2.5M per at 33/34 is pretty good. O-linemen are typically really expensive. They'll need to draft a good one in the 2nd round (or 3rd if they take a RB, haha).

They'll still have room in 2021 after paying Carson and Adams. They probably won't use it, but, they'll have it.

If they bring back Beastmode though, I'm going to semi-root for those seahawks. He has my respect.
