Sheeeesh. On its surface my Seahawks just went full Houston for a safety. They didn't even include Schottenheimer in the trade. Well, Schneider built the last defense, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt with this trade, but yikes.

They also have to give him a gigantic deal. and that also means they'll probably lose Clowney.

I mean I enjoy watching them make stupid moves like that, but...

Adams is still playing under his rookie deal this year, so Clowney is still up in the air. I think Clowney still plays his sole unblocked highlight from college in his contract negotiations. He not worth nearly what he wants, and he's still burning bridges around the league. But if there was ever a year to burn bridges, coronayear could be it.

I honestly do not believe there was ever a Safety that played the game worth what this deal is costing them. Not even Ronnie Lott or Troy Polamalu would be worth that much.

I mean -- SF gave up a 5 and a 3 for an All Pro LT...

Apples and oranges there.

Sure, but 2 first rounders for a guy that forced a trade and doesn't even have a contract locked down yet? I can see that for a Mahomes, or a like a TJ Watt or Miles Garrett, maybe, someone who is going to change like that whole side of the ball for you, buy a Safety isn't really ever that guy.

Right. A franchise LT is significantly more valuable than a Safety.

That's entirely dependent on your offense and QB style. KC chose a safety last year (Mathieu) for whom an easy argument could be made they don't get over the hump without him. A solid anchor at safety makes everything easier defensively. It's just not sexy unless there's an entire legion of boom.

I'd rather Seattle shore up their O-line, especially when their play calling is so atrociously 1985, but they haven't done that, even when they were crushing fools en route to superbowl appearances.

Uh.

KC has a #1 overall draft pick LT, Eric Fischer.

Uh what about him? I didn't say they didn't have a left tackle. I stand by what I said. The acquisition of Mathieu could be argued that's what got them over the hump.

A steep price to pay, but if he plays like he played in Jersey (B) for 3 years, it'll be worth it. But 1st round picks give the team flexibility in the way of minimizing pay for really good players for 2-3 years at least. This move indicates that Seattle intends to win soon, and then blow it up.

Adams is a fucking beast I don't care what y'all say though. He does it all. I'm glad he won't be in the AFC, especially the ass-whooping he put on the Raiders last year and the fact they have to play them again in NY this year (thanks NFL schedulers...you're a bunch of peaches).
