NFL 2020

My Raiders and the LA Chargers put on a good show. Nail biter!

In the first time in a long time, I yelled "FUCK YOU, RAIDERS!" When it looked like they lost on that final play. LOL

Man, how bad is it when your division rival who is so bad that they literally cannot beat any other team and they sweep you for the season.

:laughing

No, I get that. I'm not saying they couldn't, I'm saying why would they? When he plays, they win. When he doesn't, they stink. He is clearly an injury risk, but you keep that guy. Until a replacement becomes easy and convenient.

We're in agreement there.

The only other situation I see them looking at moving on is wanting to keep the rest of the team (when healthy) intact.

Fred Warner is gonna get a HUGE deal as the best ILB in football, and they're also going to need to keep and give raises to guys like Kinlaw, Juice Check, and Trent Williams.

Not paying a QB $30M goes a long way towards keeping all those other dudes.

But is there a Cool Joe or Ready Wilson to be had in the second or third round next year?

Maybe?

Rumor has it that Adam Peters was at the BYU game this weekend, I assume to keep tabs on Zach Wilson, who's basically QB3 in the draft now behind Lawrence and Fields.

I can see the reasoning behind that type of team building. Unless you have a HOF tier QB like Mahomes/Brady/Brees/A-A-Ron or even Big Ben, you're much better off with a good QB on a rookie contract like Josh Allen, midget Kyler, etc.

Oh, trust me I know - I'm on the Keep Jimmy train anyway. He was 10min (and a bunch of noncalls on Bosa, and probably a concussion ona
noncall helmet to helmet on JG) away from winning us another ring.

IMO, the only thing that would cause them to move on was something insane like and needing surgery and not recovering fully, which it's said that he doesn't.

Maybe Aaron Rogers to the Niners? Also rumblings of Matt Ryan.

Personally I've never though Jimmy had it. No zip on the ball, not accurate. Shanny doesn't trust him based on play calls. The defense was historically good last year and covered up the mediocre QB play. Defense and run game were the team. If Jimmy G was the man, Shanny wouldn't be doing 10-12 run plays in a row, in my opinion.

Problem is if not Jimmy then who? They are in no mans land now, not gonna make the playoffs and get a middle draft pick.

Unless defense comes back next year and receivers turn the corner to help Jimmy G, I don't see it unless they find someone more accurate.

Ps. Can the Steelers beat the Chiefs in the playoffs to get to the SB?

It's a run first offense. It always has been. That has nothing to do with Jimmy. When he's healthy he puts up numbers and wins games. Full stop.

He missed the go ahead TD pass to what in the NFL is considered a wide open receiver in the SB. He's a solid proQB. He just doesn't have the magic of the next level up.

:laughing

yes, the sports talk hot takes.

HE DOESN'T HAVE MOXIE. HE DOESN'T WANT IT ENOUGH. HE'S NOT THE MAN

He was 10 minutes away from winning a ring, likely had a concussion in the 4th quarter, and it was obvious the narrative of Reid and Mahomes winning was being pushed HARD so there is a new face of the league. If somehow the refs remembered how to call holding on the KC O-Line in the 4th quarter, Jimmy G is the SB MVP and all of these conversations don't happen.

anyway it wouldn't surprise me to see them move on. His ankle is worse than we were initially led to believe and he can't plant on his back foot ERR HE HAS NO ZIP ON THE BALL!!!one!!

A torn ACL and a high ankle sprain over a couple seasons ain't a good look.

Dude, I have never listened to talk radio let alone sports talk.

You can spin it any way you like. Maybe he was woozy. How the fuck is anyone supposed to comment on that one way or the other unless he comes out and says it?

All I know is what I saw. He missed the shot. The shot that would have definitively made the statement. So far he is just a good, starting NFL QB. That's saying a lot in my book. ymmv

There is no way in hell he would admit that.

Regardless, even if that pass is completed for a TD Mahomes has 2 minutes to drive the field for at least a FG to tie the game.

It went the way the league wanted it to go.

I think we may be on the same page but in different paragraphs.

There is nothing he can do about what another QB does. All he can do is his thing. If he'd hit that shot he would be different in my view.

All in all he's still the best QB my 9ers have had since JG5. He would start for just about any but a handful of teams. I'm still a spoiled 9er fan and every QB will be measured against Joe Cool and Scramblin Steve in my book. Back to back HoF is just too hard to forget and kinda unfair to anyone who doesn't reach that level behind center for SF.

speaking of QBs who are currently evading a solid judgement...how about that Derek Carr, eh?? He's showing he has all the tools like never before. He can hit the deep ball, he's murderously efficient, and can scramble well enough. He's outplayed Brees and Mahomes this year. Beat a team in their own inclement weather. Ranks 5th in passer rating and 8th in adjusted QBR. I feel like, this year, his play is showing that these rankings of the #6-10 range is accurate. He's playing very well.

He most certainly seemed to have those things in 2016.

I remember that year well because it was the last Season both our teams had winning records and the last year either of them got into the playoffs...

I'm not sure if I've ever seen him this accurate. He's dropping dimes out there, for the most part.

I feel like it wasn't even a playoff year that year for the Raiders, going into the playoff game without Carr. Hopefully they make it and it'll be better circumstances this year.

Well, they got fucked when he was injured like right at the end, but 12 wins is 12 wins. At least your guys are bouncing back.

11-5 and a 5th seed seems like a lot more than 4 years ago for my guys!

like 9ers fans love to tout their maraathe (sp?), I'm liking my Mayock. The historical identity of the Raiders is boiled down to just a few things:

1) dominant o-line, and there's not even a 2.
3) defense that makes you think about your safety
4) a smashmouth running game that steals the opposition defense's soul
5) a deep passing game to enable the smashmouth running game to eat clock and deliver said soul-stealing.

Gruden has them attacking all levels of the field, and he has the weapons to do so. This is the missing ingredient for a long Raiders run..

McKenzie to be fair, then Mayock and Gruden have focused on bringing that shit back, thank little baby jesus for them. They're still a goodly amount of pieces away from putting it all together. But they are playing RAIDER FOOTBALL.

Maraathe is just the contract / salary cap guy. Lynch and Shanahan built the team.
