NFL 2021

Just be a sport and take the L, son.

What L? What argument are we even having? :laughing

He threw three balls that should have been picked.

Yeah, kind of to be expected for a Rook on his first day out, right?

He made some legit throws, couple guys had drops, but also took a couple tough sacks -- partially playing behind the 2nd/3rd string and camp body O-Line, partially cause the kid hasn't played in almost 2 seasons.

The TD pass was pretty.

Not sure if I would call it pretty, but Sherfield did a fantastic job breaking off coverage and getting behind the Safety for sure. That was a nice looking play.

Safety seemed like he took a bad angle, maybe he thought he could make a play on the ball before he realized it was a dime over his head.

You keep attributing things to me that I never said or intimated.

No, there was a conversation in the room about drops/missed catches. Multiple folks contributed. You put up some stats, I replied and said it was a little early to take play results too seriously.

You started getting all weird and defensive. You aren't being targeted, Bro, we are just talking about ball games. :dunno

Well, defense guys are knocking the rust off too, right? To me it looked like the WR made some nice body play and good steps to get behind the last man though, I felt like it was some good route work, you know?

T-Lance certainly dropped that ball in the right spot though. Seems like he was getting his ass kicked a lot of the day from that highlight reel, but on that play you saw what he could do with some good protection.

It is hella early, Yo.

For what?

To complain about drops and shit. Guys are still finding their hands and their QB timing. You cannot tell much from the first couple of pre-season games as guys are knocking the rust off.

Since when is stating facts equal to complaining?

So you are saying that the receivers actually put grease on their hands?

Duh fuq, bro?
Where did I ever say that?

Read up. Scoot said it. :dunno

I didn’t. Address him about it. You’re always quick to correct people who attribute things to you in error. I guess that only a one way street for you.

The response applies to you though. It is early to be judging performance much.

Now you’re just being stupid. Par for the course tho. :dunno

Well then, this has gone swimmingly... my work here is done for now.

Go read it again, with the posts from Scoot too. Context matters. ;)

:laughing You definitely seem to have helped get someone riding the butthurt wagon all up in here. :laughing

Usually Hard Knocks is compelling enough no matter the team, but this current series on the Cowboys is just dull....

So far the most interesting thing I've seen was how much Jerry Jones salts his Sausage Egg McMuffin. :wow:green

Dude, I contemplated watching, but I dodged it because I was too afraid I might find any of the Cowgirls likeable if they were somehow humanized to me.

Fuck Dallas.

:x

:teeth

Yeah... same here, but these guys are kinda dull so it doesn't draw you in.

I'll say this, Jerry knows how to take care of his team. The facilities are fantastic. There's a long drone shot that goes through the entire complex that you wonder if it's ever gonna end.

And yeah, fuck the Cowboys. (I think they're actually in Frisco, TX.)

No, technically it is in Arlington, but it is still Dallas, like 2 miles from the City limits.

It is kind of enjoyable what that corny ass used car salesman looking owner does as an icon of the Texas identity to hate. Like Cowboys are cool, horses and 6 guns and work trucks and boots and hats and stuff.

Is that what he does? Nope. Gaudy ass, nouveau riche, Cadillac with steer horns, bling blingin as all hell, highrise hillbilly deluxe.

:laughing

He is as big a caricature of Dallas as Eagles fans are to Philly. Like, Giants Redskins is supposed to be the big rivalry in the NFC East due to the 'Skins roots in Boston and it being the oldest franchise in the East after Blue, but like, the other 2 guys are such cartoonish villains that Red and Blue with more normal franchises and normal fan bases just kind of shrug and deal with them, lol.

I think the Raiders are really the only other fan base I am aware of in football that is so just absurd. The Jets are pretty bad as a rule, but much like Pats fans it is more of just a matter of who they are as a people, not as much of like a shared community identity.

Not pro but nobody is worse than Alabama fans. Rooooooooooolll TAHDE!

My son the bartender had homicidal thoughts when he was still working in New Orleans and those maniacs would come into town to play LSU or whatever was goin on in the Dome. Just imagine standing in a room for eight hours with a bunch of drunken cooters who yell that roll tide bit about every minute or two while he mixed them margaritas one at a time because the barowner was obsessed with individual cocktails over pitchers.

I have a hard time hating Jerrah because he is just so fuckin corny, as you mentioned above.

Oh, and about the season.....Ya know (rhetorically, speaking to everyone), it's been at least half a dozen years I think since the players negotiated for less training in pre-season, or less contact, or less something. Consequently, most NFL teams aren't really hittin their stride until about three games in. When you put a hotspur rookie who showed "brilliance" in a goddam pre-season game, with players not imbued with the mythic "sense of urgency," you just aren't learning much about anything of the new rooks.

That said, until Lance stops throwing the ball so damn hard, he isn't goin anywhere as a passer. He did throw a touch pass in last game which was nice, but almost every one of his passes wobble, so I am a bit skeptical about playing against big boys.

Unless I'm really off, of course Jimmy starts the season. After two or three games, he'll get hurt and we'll see Lance. Now, the first two teams on schedule are not great, so I expect Jimmy to look really, really good, making some feel contrite for doubting his ability. Heck, maybe his getting hurt will be delayed even. Lions, Eagles, Packers. Then, the Seahawks. That's probably when Jimmy gets hurt or shamed and the doubts will rise again.

I think I finally understand Garoppalo. Good not great, knows system well and can make it click. But his personal destiny seems to be red zone and or third down failure following sweet sequences. He even dd it in a pre-season game against a very weak effort, which was, or should have been embarassing.

I actually think that right now, QB is one of the weaker spots of an otherwise good looking Niner team. This can be the year but somebody at QB is going to have to get better.

The idea that keeping JG on the bench is even a conversation is absurd. I do not understand it.

You don't start rookies at QB. Use the Mahomes/Aaron Rodgers method. Let Jimmy G play, let T-Lance work on getting pro ready. When Jimmy G inevitably goes on IR, T-Lance has way more pro season in him and gets his shot.

Yeah they do. Plenty of rookie QBs have started week 1. Plenty. Nobody said they do well, and they're usually the products of crappy teams, but it happens.

I will concede that a QB ahead such as JG makes no sense. I give it till week 4 before JG is gimped up and Shanahan doesn't have to take the heat when Lance trots out, not that I think there'd be much heat to trot him out week 1 anyway.

Jimmy is the starter.

Shanny already said it. The rest is just the media wanting clicks and reading too much into Trey getting rotated in and having reps with the first team. OF COURSE your new star QBOTF is going to get 1st team reps. He's going to get time, he'll have his packages where he rotates in.

It's Jimmy's job to lose.

more importantly, a rookie QB has never won the SB.

Jimmy is getting another season. Then he'll get a trade engineered to somewhere that he wants to be that will benefit him and the Niners, then it'll be Trey Area.

Lynch and Shanahan have proven that they treat their guys right.
