Elway was such a hot dog. Always threw the ball too hard. We have the problem right now with new rook.
But if you need a Toyota, he’s got a deal for you.

Unlike some QBs who have league-wide respect, only Broncos fans like Elway. He was a hot dog.
The correct stance, at least in the Bay Area, is always to hate Elway.
Srsly who cares now..He was somewhat obnoxious as a young man. He’s got that Viking disease now so he’s more humanized.

You COULD wait for the chorus of Elway love.....just don’t hold your breath. Tell me how many times our mutual football announcers have ever expanded on great Elway moments.
I gotta hand it to ya though, you are loyal. I know a guy whose a big Broncos guy. I told him my thoughts on Elway. Now I’m “dead to him.” Ha. What do I know, I liked a guy named Montana at the time..

Hard to shit on Elway as a player, and by the time he made it to the Super Bowls at the end of his career I think everyone had that "win it for John" feeling, and Terrell Davis did. Plus, I never liked the Packers, and I REALLY disliked the Packers of Favre and Holmgren.
I graduated from college in 97, Ripon College in Wisconsin. I had sooooooo much fun calling all my friends after that super bowl.
Back in 2000, I visited friends in CO. He was a big raiders fan.
We went to the store in a suburb of Denver. Me in my A's jersey, and him in his Raiders parka. It was Saturday before football sunday and we were getting stuff for gameday.
There were 90 y/o grandma's in walkers giving us the stinkiest stink eye and everyone just staring menacingly. In Denver, Elway is god, can do no wrong and the broncos are everything.
Sports talk shows on the radio were like "Current Bronco's QB threw for 3 TDs, 300 yards in last weeks game, but Elway would have gone for at least 400. I'm not exaggerating. My buddy told me about it, and then turned on the radio and there it was.

I don’t need to wait for anyone. Do you think I came into this conversation with the belief that a bunch of people from the Bay Area would come to my rescue when discussing John Elway and the Broncos. You are delusional.

I really was rooting for them to be a good team after they made that Championship run a couple of years back.
They are kind of like the Lions, one of those teams I sort of root for because they don't have a personality worth hating and they are such a perpetual public toilet seat you kind of hope they could give their fans some competitive football.
Like, of course nobody should win the Superbowl every year except my guys, obviously anything else is a crime against humanity, but you like to think those poor bastards could get a few years in a row strung together where they could make some decent playoff runs, you know, get them a little something?
