NFL 2021

:laughing

The Raider do have a tendency to play down to their opponents....

... still lost to the Raiders a couple of weeks ago. :twofinger

Better go grab your spot for the championship parade.... we'll wait. :laughing

Been a rough couple of weeks, and KC up next.

Raiders fans are really good at waiting…it’s been almost 40 years, do you even know where the Raiders parade will be, Oakland, LA, Oakland, Vegas, maybe back in Oakland. I’ll hit you up in 34 years for advice on waiting. Commitment to excellence indeed.

The Raiders were excellent the last time they played the Broncos... :thumbup

They were and I gave them credit for kicking Denver’s ass. But excellence once is no commitment.

Despite my shit talking, I really do hope their new coach has success. I think he’s awesome and a respectable dude for stepping in and making a go of it. :thumbup

Why you even talking about that old shit? No one trying to bring that 40 years ago stuff up, you going to make some dusty ass noise about Elway being good next? Tell us more stories about Frank Tripucka too, grand dad!!

:laughing

aren't you the dude that talks about the Giants championships from before the merger and when they wore leather helmets and shit

:later

:laughing We were talking about modern football games until dude showed up talking about some motto from before the dinosaurs were alive.

Only when people bring up old championships and total championship counts do I bring up such things, because history is interesting when discussing history.

No reason to bring up some weird grudge someone had from the Civil War or whatever stuff from the 1800's he was talking about. ;)

Was it wrong of me to root for the Titans last night and their dismantling of the Rams? I loved how after they posted that graphic of how great Stafford was he threw that interception to avoid the safety and gifted the Titans 7 points and then like 30 seconds later threw a pick 6. I was rolling on the floor laughing. I have to find some fun this season as the Niners are turning into a dumpster fire.

Also Jordan Love did not look like a replacement for Rodgers in any way shape or form I mean the Packers looked like a bad JV team on Sunday. I really wanted to see the Chiefs lose again but that wasn't in the cards I guess..

Do the 9ers make the playoffs at this point?

If they don't, do they keep Shanahan? I know he's under contract for what, 3 more years(?)...

Remember what I said earlier in the season about Niners shit talking us? Right now we are 3-6, the Niners are 3-5, we have a Bye this week and the Niners have the Rams.

Just saying...

Shanahan's system would work if Jimmy G could just throw an accurate football. Too high or too wide. Even when the receivers grab 'em, they end up in awkward physical moments of recovery when they are vulnerable to injury or fumble. I think that pro athletics are always on the knife's edge of failure or success. The way Jimmy keeps throwing casts disbelief on the entire team that they can get through a series of successful plays and the emotion of doubt and fatalism feeds on itself with each of his failures.

I watched first part of game and saw him throw awkward passes to both Kittle and Aiyuk, both of whom fumbled, moments later. I don't think anyone performs perfectly when they have just been contorted to receive and have to recover composure. THey have lost rhythm, which you know when you see. I mean, Aiyuk was trying too hard and got up from a successful play and screwed it up. But Kittle had just stretched way out to make his reception as well.

Shanahan's greatest mistake was not recruiting NBA players for wide receivers. Because you need to be 7 foot tall with 3 1/2 long arms to catch Jimmy's passes. And it WILL NOT GET BETTER. That is clear to me now. I thought he would get better.

It's somewhat hyperbolic, but seriously, I think Shanahan has the perfect QB in mind (he was fixated on Kirk Cousins) to execute his schemes and Jimmy just cannot. In fact, I truly think that Shanny doesn't think he needs a GREAT QB, just an accurate one who isn't dumb and can execute the playbook. I look at the guys face and I feel like I am looking at myself in my band when one of my instrumentalists screws up their entrance for the 47th time.

But the question is: does the game of NFL football really foster that kind of perhaps perfectionsim? In other words, it's so rough and unpredictable that I am not sure perfect plays and perfect schemes ever work. All this season, we have seen a mostly dumbed-down playbook because I think Shanny thinks that his best chance of success comes by doing that, especially with Lance. But Jimmy's inability to target screws even that up. You are left with run plays, run-option and short passes that Jimmy won't loft.

I dunno. That's what I see. I think so many times, you see a very nice sequence of plays then they get ruined in the end. They are on the edge of getting it right, but it just keeps not happening.

I didn't agree before with radio guys, but I kinda think it is time to unleash Lance for better or worse and screw the season. I still don't think he's ready, but, unlike NBA, there is no G League to work out newness, kinks and playing against true pro-level players to acclimate.

And it IS funny that the Fumbly-Niners are catching "up" with the Giants.

Thank gawd for the Warriors for us homies. If I want to watch good football, I'll watch other teams, not the dumpster fire in Santa Clara. They can't even win at home ffs.

I honestly expected them to be much better this year, but it isn't too late to turn it around with guys like Kittle getting back on the field Sunday. The problem is much more that L.A. and Az both look poised to head to the NFC Championship, so a couple of missed steps is tough to recover from.

Do you think T-Lance is the answer?

EVERYONE expected them to do better but there was always the nagging "but with jimmy?" question. Losing Mostert was bad because there went the predictable running game.

I don't have enough evidence to know who Lance ends up being. Look at how weird and unpredictable top pick first rounders vs. everyone else ends up. I often wonder whether its worth spending the money on first rounders. Even though they paid Jimmy way too much money (negating the follooing theory), I believe the Shanahan philosophy MIGHT BE to have the less glamorous game manager QB so there is money for everything else.

Lance looked truly flustered in his big shot earlier this season. Totally understandable. The true believers are those that watched his workouts before and his practice play since. I haven't seen either. I never saw any of his few college games either. I try to temper anything I think with what people who are paid to know see....

I always project forward in the following way: he could end up having a fantastic sophomore or junior year as a QB but its just stumbling around right now, counting on legs. The main thing is not ruin him with a collapsed O-line so he never gets to find that verve. You must feel that way about Jones.... I sure hate wasted talent but life ain't fair, etc etc etc.

But hes got legs and a good arm, and accurate at that...he just panicked and ran earlier when he had the chance.

I don't know but maybe with more reps he turns into the answer. I say yank Crappolo and put in Trey and see what happens with more reps. When I do get a chance to watch a game Crappolo is all over the table at first I thought it was because of receivers and injuries but if he can't do it with Kittle back and others then maybe he lost the edge and can't get it back.

I think at this point the season is a done deal AZ and LA are too far ahead and are on fire unless last nights game crushes Staffords confidence and he has flashbacks to Detroit and stops playing well.

Hopefully Niners get it together soon we only have Bosa for one or two more years on rookie and not sure they are going to be able to pay to keep him.

What really kills me is that we finally had a year where Seattle looks on the ropes and can't get revenge. Sheeeeeyit.

Joe Montana thinks Mac Jones woulda been a better pick...

I have no idea what you're talking about here. On Kittle's fumble he got hit between the numbers in stride, then ran damn near halfway across the field and didn't fumble until he tried some weird jump hurdle nonsense between two defenders instead of lowering his shoulder and blowing up the DB.

The pass to Aiyuk was high but he needed to stay down instead of trying to somersault and get up and keep running. He got smashed by 3 defenders at once and the ball got knocked loose.

Also Jimmy didn't give up 31 points to Arizona's JV team.

Based on the press Mac Jones is getting about, "Dirty Play," that injured that Carolina dude, I am assuming he will be murdered by the end of the season from other defenders taking out his knees on purpose.
