Plus Size Models

People have this thing where it's difficult to imagine a life outside our own and we expect everyone to learn things at the same rate. We learn a new thing on Wednesday and act like the guy who hasn't learned it by Thursday is a total idiot. So it's awesome that you've made some healthy changes, but why can't other people have more time than you needed to figure it out?

They can have time, and if they follow the dr. Prescription of diet and exercise I am okay paying for that. The ones who refuse to change are the ones that should pay their own costs.

So like you verbally assault all fat people you see?

What if they killed themselves, would you count that as a win?

Assault is a strong word

Suicide is easier than dieting

In criminal and civil law, assault is a threat of imminent harmful or offensive contact with a person, or a threat to do so. It is distinct from battery, which refers to the actual achievement of such contact.

it's exactly the right word.

How many times have you tried to kill yourself out of curiosity?

I honestly can't believe some of the things people here are professing to believe. I bet they don't go around actually telling people their opinion on it.

Who decides what is offensive?

Do you mean actually try to kill myself? Or just looking for attention?

Who has said that's "perfectly healthy" and "sexy"?

Have you guys ever taken a basic psychology class or read a book on human nature, or actually have any friends who are fat? Because it doesn't seem like it.

No, although I did date a big girl briefly. She was fun and all but she was just using me for sex :thumbdown :x

He's not wrong though. I think a lot more can be gained by just emphasizing exercise and better diet, but when you get people who are 300+ pounds being told that they are perfectly healthy and sexy and should just love their bodies instead of trying to change it's not really a good thing. We've gone so far that some women who are that large or larger are acting offended by the fact that a majority of men aren't interested in dating them and saying that is discriminatory.

It's no secret that people in this country, on average have a higher obesity rate than other countries. I think there's a lot more factors to that than just "people are just lazy and should exercise more". It certainly doesn't help at all that theres sugar or some sort of corn-based sweetener in. every. goddamn. thing. we. buy. or that our municipalities, by in large, were not really designed with walking as a reasonable means of getting around. Or that there are vast swaths of the country that simply don't have access to fresh food without making a special trip to a store some 30 miles away.

But hey, keep fat shaming to reduce healthcare costs. track it over time and let's see the results. I'm sure it'll make a big dent in the bottom line of our profit-based healthcare system.

For sure. However, I do not want to pay for someone else’s self inflicted diabetes medication. I stopped drinking soda and changed my lifestyle and lost 40 pounds of fat and am no longer pre diabetic. So I am okay with telling people they can’t drink sodas all day and expect me to pay for their insulin. Same thing with ER costs. Some shmuck shouldn’t expect everyone to foot the bill because they wanted to ride a motorcycle and didn’t have health insurance.

Yes, some people just do not live the right way. They should live correctly like other correct minded people. If they choose not to be the way they are supposed to be, we as a people should resolve a solution, something that could close the debate. Maybe we could create a place to send these wrong people for reeducation for the good of our nation. I wonder how this Final Solution would work exactly?

I do think diet/lifestyle change-praising rather than fat-shaming would be more effective. Give the plus-sized models who used to be obese all the praise and have them be an example of positive change rather than “fat and happy”

Send them down to work on The Wall

Could it be argued that medical costs per individual would be lower if they died at a younger age be it from obesity or whatever.
The cost of living until 100 has to be higher than dying at 50. Thats an extra 50 years of tests, procedure, and medication.

I'm glad it's the government's responsibility to dictate our lifestyle choices. They tend to make good policy decisions, like banning gay marriage or not allowing different races to mix or disallowing people of color on buses.

So when you crash that motorcycle you aren't planning on using your medical insurance right? Paying out of pocket? Because that's a pretty risky lifestyle choice right there buddy and I don't see any difference.

Now don't get me wrong, I eat healthy and don't drink soda at all. But I am not naive or stupid enough to believe that my choices in life don't affect others. It's good to see you standing on that pedestal without any vices or bad habitats.

The thinking behind helmet laws was reducing medical expenses for crash victims (reducing dain bramage), and multitudes of non-riders supported it with gusto.
