Plus Size Models

I used to be 100% on your side on this one, but some people do have medical conditions that cause them to store calories as fat. I don't know the actual numbers, but some people genuinely have glandular problems.

if you take their fork and run i guarantee they will lose weight

those glandular disorders clear right up around day 5 with no food, just water

kShe went a year ago had a lap band and she is now like half her size. = Bitch, you just had done been eating too much.

:dunno

Damn. Sure hope you’re not talkin bout a Wendy, cause that shit was/is real. :(

Cooking and some eating are my great life pleasures and I think I'd rather learn to control my weight before I'd consider letting someone cut me open, but I don't have perspective since I am of standard weight.

I recognize I do not have rippling abs and a flat stomach and not great cardio and I don't hold women to some unrealistic standard but I'd be lying if I wasn't more attracted to athletic women.

Why is it OK to shame skinny girls by calling them anorexic or telling them to eat a sandwich, while it's not OK to comment about fat ones?

Also, why do women deserve protection from such comments, while men get ridiculed all the time about their bodies, even in "professional" environments like work? Apparently men are expected to grin and bear it, I guess.

Yea men are expected to not give a shit and rightly so. A dude that has an insecurity about his body should do something about if he's able to or just suck it up.

Who has said that's "perfectly healthy" and "sexy"?

Have you guys ever taken a basic psychology class or read a book on human nature, or actually have any friends who are fat? Because it doesn't seem like it.

I have plenty of fat friends, I also have a fat me. At my fattest, I was 6 ft and around 275

The thing is, I know that I was unhealthy then, and even though I've lost weight, unhealthy now. I continue to try to make efforts to drop weight, and I've at least been somewhat successful, though at least for me it's a long and difficult process. What I don't think is good is the movement that tells people, 'no, it's fine that you are fat, you shouldn't try to change that, in fact you should be proud of it. There can be a space between 'fat people should just die' and 'fat and proud'

It's no secret that people in this country, on average have a higher obesity rate than other countries. I think there's a lot more factors to that than just "people are just lazy and should exercise more". It certainly doesn't help at all that theres sugar or some sort of corn-based sweetener in. every. goddamn. thing. we. buy. or that our municipalities, by in large, were not really designed with walking as a reasonable means of getting around. Or that there are vast swaths of the country that simply don't have access to fresh food without making a special trip to a store some 30 miles away.

But hey, keep fat shaming to reduce healthcare costs. track it over time and let's see the results. I'm sure it'll make a big dent in the bottom line of our profit-based healthcare system.

So your argument is that society right now emphasizes poor diet and exercise habits, and ,extrapolating from that, we should endeavor to make societal changes to emphasize exercise and better diet...

glad we agree.

Funny how gender equality only works one way

Gender equality in the workforce and pay scale sure but physically men and women are different.
Women like to wear high heels and will excuse themselves to powder their noses. Are men going to fight for their right to do the same? No I didn't think so.

Models who work really hard? Like learn to put on makeup real good and starve themselves?

Why do you randomly leave out letters from your typing?

I suspect a bunch of this convo will be lost of u if u think that’s all it takes to be a pro model.

Yes, I get the impression you clearly are an expert on this topic and would be wasting your time educating us.
I have been on modeling shoots and I know models (both mainstream and adult, male and female). I agree with stangmx13. You have no idea what goes into the profession.

I've noticed that women (and even girls) are praised for displaying or pursuing "traditionally male attributes" such as aggressiveness, toughness, muscle definition, assertiveness, etc.........And yet men are ridiculed if they display "traditionally female attributes" such as compassion, empathy, a flair for design, etc.

I have even seen a few "progressive" women mock men in that manner. Complete double standard.

Those are not female attributes unless you're talking about puppies and bunny rabbits.
There are assholes from within each gender. We should make no adjustments to conform to their ideals.
However physically women hold more body fat and less muscle mass than men. Yeah there are exceptions but the sexes are wired differently and each has the right to do as they please and to be given to opportunity to try for whatever their goals may be.
Men are expected to behave a little more manly, isn't that how it should be.

They are much more present in women than they are in men, which was my point.

You can't say "men and women are different" and then turn around and say certain attributes don't lean male or female. Of course they do.

Men are expected to behave a little more manly, isn't that how it should be.

If that's true, why shouldn't women be expected to act womanly? Isn't that how it "should be"?

Hummm, okay you got me I'll have to agree with that

60% of the human body is water.

I'm not fat, I'm flooded.
