R6 vs 600rr

See - this is where the whole thing gets skewed. Best street bike "out of the bunch."

News flash for ya - the "bunch" absolutely suck as street bikes. They're all still track tools at heart. Liter I4s as the exception, why don't the lot of you look at twins / V4s / triples instead? Calling *any* modern race rep 600 a good "street bike" is misleading at best.

I dont see how a liter bike is any better on the street lol. The ergos arent that much better.

If you are talking about power/mid range, a 600 I4 has plenty of scoot even below 7k (at least mine does) to get around town.

And nothing to head south as she gets older. ;)

Looks like her knees are going south right now.

Seriously, what the hell is going on there? Thems some ugly legs.

And yeah...midrange is not a problem on 600s. I was just looking at my tach yesterday while loafing around surface streets and thinking about how it already feels like it's starting to kick ass at 6k. How fast do you need to accelerate, really?

maybe some of these guys could stand to lose some denominator from the power/weight ratio

I can attest to this. Back when I lived in Japan a couple years ago, I met a woman who was wife of a school administrator. At first glance, I thought it was his daughter. He was in his 50s and she in her 40s, yet she looked late 20s at best. She was probably the most MILF-y of all MILFs I've ever seen. God damn she was hot.

Ok fair enough, the legs could afford some gym time. :laughing

my interweb skills have uncovered what she looks like without the stunna shades

And Jennifer's mother meets this same quality. I have something to look forward to. :D

Bandit 1250 for example... That bike is a fucking beast. Point being, a liter I4 is going to have the torque to haul you around no matter what. Not as great as a twin but still a boatload - more than enough to get the job done.

600cc race reps do not have mid range. Don't try to fool yourself there. They're all dogs until the revs climb above 9k and by that time, you're already breaking the law on most city streets. The older 600s, (YZF600R, ZZR600 etc) are a little better in that respect but there are *still* much better options available. Torque kicks ass. As such, none of these race reps are going to have what it takes to get the job done at low revs.

What exactly is the job? Getting around town? Staying in front of traffic? I shift at 6-7k max on the street and do just fine, shifting at 7k im well in front of everyone at a light and speeding VERY quickly

Not sure exactly how much speed or torque you need on the street. My bike at least is more than enough for the street without wringing its neck. But what do I know, I don't own it and ride it daily.

I had a ninja 650 as well, which is a torquey twin, and its street manners were not much different in terms of mid range, they actually behave pretty similar to 7k, then the 600 starts to take off like a bat out of hell

I don't get it. The 600s are still faster off the line than damn near any car, without having the burn your clutch. I let the clutch out at low RPM, roll on, and still embarrass any car I've seen at a light.

How fast do you need to be?

The 650R makes nearly 50% more torque than the CBR600RR until around 8-9k RPMS when the CBR finally catches up. Don't even try to tell me that it isn't any different in terms of mid range.

If you want power and want power now without having to rev the shit out of something, a 600cc super sport is *not* the way to go, the Daytona 675 being the exception.

Have you ever ridden a 07 600RR on the street? Or are you just an armchair racer? srsly, there is no need for a liter bike to get around on the streets, thats idiotic at best. Like Alusious said, you can short shift all day every day and smoke pretty much every car out there. yes it isnt as torquey compared to 1000ccs or twins, but its still way more than enough for the street

And the 650R does not make 50% more torque. Both peak around 46ftlbs and the 600rr has plenty on tap from 6k on. Theres no need to hit peak torque on the street at any time.

Need and want are two very different things

Hey! Don't diss my commuter. :rofl

Kidding of course. I think my 650R is perfect for the street but I imagine a 600RR is way more fun for spirited riding.

lol Im not dissing it, I had one, its a great bike all around, but its not like I have to rev the shit out of the 600RR to keep up with it. Thats all I'm saying. its torque curve is close to that of the 600RRs, just shifted to the left a few thousand rpms, but its not like you need to tap into the 600RRs peak torque area to get around town
