Rounda get beat

thats gone. I sleep with hamsters, like a normal person.

Look, I gotta give credit where credit is due... she medaled in the Olympics, which is no small feat. She earned her belts. BUT... the UFC is full of elite athletes who get nowhere near the credit and exposure she does and don't all walk around looking like they just smelled a fart.

She is so disrespectful and off-putting and has been very blessed with a very weak division. She worked hard to get to where she is, but a lot of thing aligned to help her along the way. Instead of being a raging see-hunt, try to be a little more humble and respectful.

:thumbup Sorry for the double post but this belongs here as well.

I am going to take this moment to publicly cringe at the transformation of the noun medal into a verb. (Is there a word for that?)

Rousey? Hey, she should be able to survive it all and still make bank. If not, she is not worthy. Shes the one that oughta be shooting arrows in Hunger Games and bein all divergent and such. Wonder if she can act? Not that the futuristic chop-sockies are exactly thespian high points.

I just KNOW I could lick Rhonda. Holly, not so sure about.:nchantr

^ Can't believe they gave her Mom a 31 minute interview. Didn't watch it, but I guess it would be better than hearing PacMan's Mom.

The difference is that Ronda's mom is a champion judoka from back in the day. Where do you think Ronda learned how to do an armbar so well? Here mom's experience as a fighter gives her opinion some weight.

As for Rousey only trying to stand up to Holm, I keep hearing people say that she lost because she tried to match stand up with Holm. I didn't see it that way at all. I saw a bunch of times where Rousey tried to get inside to take Holm down, but everytime she tried, she kept getting popped in the face. She has a judo background. Her natural instinct is to grab her opponent's upper body and take her down from there with a hip throw or a trip. It's not as though she was going to shoot for the legs like wrestlers do.

Holly just had wicked striking skills that were enough to keep Rousey far enough away that she couldn't take her down. And, surprisingly, Holm had enough ground defense to get out of a mess the two times that Ronda actually got her on the ground. I was actually shocked when she even decided to take Rousey down that one time. That takes a shit load of balance and strength. (She was smart enough to get back up quickly.) Holm seriously looks a lot bigger and stronger than Rousey as well.

I think that Rousey's standup trainer messed up. I'm not sure if they did enough work on teaching Ronda how to slip the jab and get inside. Everything I've read and heard prefight made me think that they convinced her that she had enough skill to be a boxing champ too. And, nobody mentioned it, but I thought that Rousey looked kinda emaciated (relatively speaking, meaning more than she normally does) during the weigh-ins. It's also possible that she messed up the cut and ended up having to cut too much weight before the weigh-ins.

I'm not trying to make excuses for Rousey. While the fight was seriously one-sided, I don't think that the difference in skill between the two is as big as the result made it look.

Rousey's (well-deserved) celebrity status simply caught up with her. Life in the fast lane and all that, too many distractions.

Now the pressure of being the champ is gone, she can hide out a bit to rejuvenate then come back highly focused for a rematch.

On the only night that mattered this time the difference in skill was huge.

As she always found of saying "You're not training to be the best in the world, you're training to be the best in the world on your worst day"
She wasn't close to being best in the word this time.
