I wonder if I can sneak up to a mammoth and use a dagger on it. with 15x damage I hope I can get enough hits in before it turns around to see me to kill it.

I'm level 20 and have gloves that make me do 30x sneak attack damage with daggers and on multiple attempts have barely managed to scratch giants or mammoths with my sneak attack. A quick and brutal death usually awaits me when messing with them.

Good to know, I've level 28 or 29 I think. where did you find those gloves or did you enchant them your self?
 
my dog getting killed really hurt me. I wish I had just told the dog to stay at my house so I have some one to come home to.
 
Just got the Wobbajack... a wand from the Daedric lord Sheograth, lord of insanity.. deals a good bit of damage plus a random spell... like summon daedric lord, shield me, heal target (not good lol), summon strom daedra, etc...
 
goddamn there is a ton of stuff to do in this game :laughing
 
no shit. hit lvl 50 just recently. still havent finished main quest. just did very first dark brotherhood quest. my quest log is full to the brim and i know theres way more out there. tons of caves/dungeons i havent even looked at. only recently hit my first skill to 100. i think i remember reading the theoretical max level is around 70?
 
I've completely ignored magic so far (only level 10) because I'm having so much fun with archery! One handed with shield is my back up, but just last night, I was sneaking up on bandit camp as they were chasing down an elk (I love how the NPCs actually do stuff autonomously instead of standing around like zombies)

They had shot the deer with an arrow and were giving chase as it was running. Three of them were running at full tilt perpendicular to me at a range where it took the arrow I just "best guessed" and thought didn't have a prayer, about 3 seconds to arrive... The guy in the middle fell forward and rolled down the hill while the other two just stopped, looked at him and then started running back to the encampment.

I walked over to the body and the arrow had struck the bandit straight thru the right eye going right into the slot in his helm!

I left it there as a warning to others...

Another time I saw some mushrooms I needed by the side of a tree and so I dismounted my horse and leisurely strolled over to get them, after which I just stood on a rock, looking over a beautiful vista... I turned around to walk back to my horse and I heard a zzzz...THWACK! and in the bottom of my view I could see the arrow sticking out of me where it hit me square in the chest.

I defeated the 3 bandits that came at me (just barely) but the whole time I was fighting in third person I kept thinking how disconcerting it was to be fighting with an arrow stuck in my chest... I was afraid that they would bump into it and that it would hurt like hell :laughing

I love this game!
 
I just found the joy of dual wielding daggers and sneaking up behind someone for a power attack. 4 quick hits with each being 15x can dropa lot if people fast.
