Skyrim

Worst Skyrim day ever: walking along the treeline stalking an elk... It finally pauses for a few seconds and I draw my bow to take the long shot. While I'm fine tuning my aiming I hear this sort of low, gutteral "snort" that is so loud it shakes the ground for a moment as it echoed into the distance.

I look to my left over my shoulder and there is a giant standing there about 50 yards away!

I panicked and of course, release my mouse button to turn and make for the trees and of course "Thwang" the arrow hits the giant right in the leg :(

I spent the next probably 20 minutes running around a large tree dodging and launching arrows at him until he literally looked like a pincushion! What seemed like over a hundred or so arrows later he finally goes down on one knee!

Triumphant, I stow my bow and pull out my fine steel sword and walked in confidently for the kill... He's kneeling there panting and in a fit of acting bravado, I stand there for a few moments, trying to figure out how to get a screen shot, and what the best angle might be.

After thinking better of not waiting too long, I walk in for the final blow, saying to the screen "I vanquish thee!" and just as I move in closer, he stands straight up and with a roar the last thing I see is this huge club that fills my screen and then my body is launched into the air about 500 feet...

I joined The Companions.

or at least I'm starting to.

I'm still not even at the Greybeard part yet

:laughing

You just gotta love this game.

I've only been to 3 holds so far and my quest list is through the roof. These are some needy ass people in Skyrim.

Got started on the Thieves Guild. It's really more of a mafia/gang than a strictly thieving guild this time around.

Took out Grelod while I was in Riften trying to get into the Thieves Guild (I need access to fences damn it!) and got started on the Dark Brotherhood though I haven't been to the sanctuary yet. I actually managed to shut off at midnight last night and get 6 hours of sleep in.

Oh and I finally took out a bunny rabbit. Fucking things are so fast. This time I flushed one out near a river and it went into the water. Got the bow out, drew, slowed down time and thwack, perfect head shot. Archery is so satisfying in this game. Flushing out game and having to lead it, so awesome.

I just found the joy of dual wielding daggers and sneaking up behind someone for a power attack. 4 quick hits with each being 15x can dropa lot if people fast.

Heh, I love dual wielding too. But I go sword and dagger. Exquisite Elvish sword and Elven dagger with soul trap. Only takes two power attacks max to take down most enemies, without sneaking. I still have to beat on the tanks for a bit though.

Oh yea I had a hilarious episode last night. I had to go steal a horse for this one guy, and while I was finishing that mission some dude comes running at me full tilt and gives me something, saying to hold on to it and that if I double crossed him he was gonna get me (or something to that effect).

I was like WTF? Dude runs off and seconds later another dude comes running up looking for the guy. "Dunno what you're talking about mate." We thieves gotta stick together you know. Anyways, I watched the thief and the hunter running around the forest for a good five minutes, with the hunter launching arrows every chance he gets. Finally he takes the thief out and I loot his body. Nothing special

I start walking back to the Hunter just in time to see him take down an elk. Holy shit this guy's badass. Went to loot the elk, and turn just in time to see a cave bear bum-rushing me. Pull out the sword and dagger and the Hunter is actually helping me out by plugging arrows into the bear. Awesome! I still didn't give him his stuff back though, which turned out to be Bracers of Wielding or some shit, +20% One Handed. That's going into the Arcane workshop. :laughing

You find 2 more fences with the thieves guild.

That's it?

I was expecting like in Oblivion where there'd be at least one fence in every town. I need more people to sell my enchanted daggers and potions to.

At least the Thieves Guild armor has a hood that gives +10% barter.

Ohh she's hot, can we marry her? :laughing

Speaking of which, did anybody get hitched yet in this game?

I haven't finished the thrives guild and have only found two fences so far. I am sure there are more.

Does the game have the Arena to fight for money?

thats generally a staple in elder scroll games, but i havent seen it yet. been to every major town already.

got my smithing up to 100. built myself sweet dragon armor, and a daedric bow, after being improved, now has 100 damage :cool. now to work on enchanting

The way things are going, based on my appointment with the Orthopedist this afternoon I may be looking at an extended absence from work. I've been playing this on the PC a little but not as much as I would like. I've actually had spare time to play but sitting at a desk and doing computer work is a huge part of the source of my pain and possible nerve damage/issues, so I've chosen to rest rather than play. Since that is the case, I've reserved a PS3 copy at a nearby store. If I get told to take time off and chill on the couch, I'll be playing this on the PS3 on my 60" HDTV. :teeth

Skyrim has been stable as hell on the XBOX. Not a single crash in 40-something hours.

Thanks for the heads up, may have to go the 360 route then and move the 360 out to the living room. I read all the comments posted along with that article and it does look as though its a serious problem for the PS3. Not only that, but it looks as though Bethesda has had similar problems with their PS3 games in the past (Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas). If that is the case its a real shame they didn't address a known issue.
