Storm Road Closures

Does anyone know when Redwood Road in Castro Valley will open? Sites I’ve checked don’t say.

Google Map says June 2024 (yes 2024 :( )

I wonder if Google Maps is keeping up on closures.
Cannot map down HWY 1 much past Big Sur.

Keep redirecting me. :rant

From Caltrans Road Conditions:
IS CLOSED FROM 4 MI NORTH OF SAN SIMEON (SAN LUIS OBISPO) TO 4 MI NORTH OF LUCIA (MONTEREY CO) - DUE TO ROCKSLIDES - MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO USE AN ALTERNATE ROUTE

And IIRC, Nacimiento-Ferguson is closed for the foreseeable future.

The way Cal-trans talks about Hwy 1, they have an idea on when to open by current repairs, but won't give that info out yet.
SLO's weather guy has been giving small hints as to what is looming on the forecast models. Maybe another bout with Sky rivers, due in the final weeks of Feb.

I believe this is why no firm promises from the state, yet. :(

FWIW, while many of you were watching sportsball today, I confirmed that Fairfax-Bolinas is open. :ride :teeth

Mines is open as of 18 Feb 23

The Junction is not. Del Puerto is in better shape than Mines. Have Fun. - K^2

Starting to get some blowback from authorities about going around "Road Closed" signage.
Rescued three, sitting on a cars' roof in a flooded street. or stuck looking for a snow play area.
I'm seeing street signs that Gary has shown us all snowy, and ones that the Flying Hun is planning to abuse, in the local news, these past weeks o' weather.

I did get popped for this once, during snow day (70's) up Gates Cyn.
I drove around the road closed sign, spent the day having an excellent time,
and got the cite passing back around the sign @ Pleasants Valley Rd.

My day in court brought me before the judge who happened to look like R. Nixon, ex prez.
I explained about no roads blocked, no first responders required, happy mellow day of snow, locals out hiking, horseback, jeepin.
I was let off for my high crime, and I heard the next guy start his explanation with "I was there doing what the last guy was doing"

Going around "Road Closed" may lose the meh factor, and start citing for compliance.

Mines is still open, if a bit messy. It survived the storm this weekend. Hopefully, it will survive the next atmospheric river next weekend. - K^2

Hopefully, somebody will buy the Junction property: Junction For Sale. I get the impression that the current owner may not want to bother with another tenant to just operate the bar and grill.

The video looks interesting:

Rumor has it if I had Keean Reeves cash I would :laughing

That sounded like Sam Elliot on the video... if he can't sell it nobody can.

I guess I can be happy to have ridden CA1 from Mill Valley to Leggett on the only 3 days that weren't blasted by storms this season.

Still pissed at myself for neglecting to put my new 512GB SD card in my Sena helmet cam.
All the way up and back I thought to myself "oh , this will look so great on YouTube..." But noooo....

700 miles of luscious corners and 4 boring cell phone pics of my bike at the Elk Store and Super8 motel in Fort Bragg...
Before we know, there will be jillions of tourists in Winnebagos from SLO to Forks, Washington.

Cute bumper sticker.

That is a lot of flood shit.. :wow

PG&E failed primary job, even with a nuke plant within 30 miles, power went out about 2:pm yesterday.
Today I wake up to the sound of singing gennies, as my solar struggles in the fog. My gennie is ready with straight gas, with a couple years of vintage.
Have yet to venture out for the road closures, in place.
Much of last months flooding here happened again, same spots, per last nites' news video.

Caltrans is still showing 58 closed from Reward Rd West of McKittrick for several miles west of that. No ETA.

Bummer, as I was planning on riding that way from SLO to DV on Thursday this week. Still going to DV regardless. Lots of options.
