Urban warfare zones, mostly black on black.

Maybe add the National Guard to the list of organizations necessary to settle this down?

Have them set up tent cities surrounded by barbed wire and watchtowers?

In other words, go in and pacify the area. Any convicted felon in possession of a weapon or hard drugs (cocaine, heroin, weed, PCP, peyote, etc.) gets automatic life imprisonment (that includes the felons' fingerprints or DNA on a weapon).

Any other person's fingerprints or DNA on the weapon gets automatic five-year sentence.

Would be nice, but where exactly would we lock them up? California prisons are crowded enough as is. I say put em on a plane and drop them off in another continent... (Africa perhaps?) Throw them into a REAL jungle. Would be nice... :laughing

If there is "YOFREESTUFF!!" for the taking and not enough cops around to contain a riot then the numbers in a riot tend to swell over time. The OPD had a hard enough time dealing with just a few rioters. When the shit hits the fan and the reduce OPD force has to deal with the situation, well IMHO its going to get ugly.

Hopefully the politicians and police in SF have enough fucking common sense (I doubt they do but hope I am wrong in this case) to stop all BART service coming into the city if there is indeed a riot.

My Five Point Plan to address crime in Oakland -

1. automatic 2-year jail for illegally carrying a handgun on city streets

2. publish the name of each person who has an outstanding City of Oakland warrant
a) tell them to turn themselves in (provide incentive to turn themselves in)
b) go after them and make it public

3. continue to criminalize known street gangs - make the actual gang illegal

4. seek outside law enforcement assistance - make a case to the governor and Rep Barbara Lee for support (ICE, INS, FBI, AFTB, Sheriff, CHP, BART, Postal, DOC/Parole)
a) I see CHP patrol Telegraph Ave all the time
b) Probation officers need
c) Is MS-13 a problem in Oakland? If so, what is ICE doing about it?
d) FBI - do municipalities have access to their crime labs?

5. Fight every single lawsuit brought against the police department - with vigor
a) the current Burris case where the scumbag used his vehicle as a weapon
b) the Burris case against SWAT Sgt Patrick Gonzales (Gonzales went looking for a murder suspect by himself, found him, fought him and then killed him. The bad dude had the murder weapon on him. His family sued and last I heard the city attorney recommended paying $1.5million rather than fight it).


Take the fight to them.

Peter, to be truthful I think you would love to have an opportunity to kill a bunch of people whose skin is a different color than yours. And you probably sit down with a bunch of buddies and discuss how you hope to "defend" the country. But that's just my opinon based on years of reading your posts.
 
Oakland City Council just decided to lay off 80 police officers.
Good job.

May I add some punishment features

1. Pay to stay in Jail i.e. money or labor no free ride.

2. Cut the cable and internet focus on job skills. Construction inparticular.

3. End the Rehabilitation ... If they are an adult it is too late for that particular route.
