The Official 2015/2016 NFL Thread

Does Briggs have anything left? He's been hurt quite a bit the last few years.

I don't think so. His productivity fell off a cliff over the past 3 years. Let him come work out. If he is even a fraction off what would be considered passable let him walk. The 9ers need someone who can either come in and be productive or at least fill in when need be.

The Bengals "lose" Michael Johnson to FA in 2014 because they didnt want to pay him 9 million a year. He goes to the Bucs, plays one year, gets cut and resigns with the Bengals for 5 mill a year AND the Bengals get a 3rd round draft pick for "losing" him in '14. Well played Bengals. Overall I'm pretty pleased with the Free Agency period for them. I would have liked to have seen them keep Taylor Mays, as he was a decent backup LB/Safety for them, but other than that, they've kept everyone I'd hoped they would. TE Gresham is still available. He seems to have some attitude problems, and he's definitely not lived up to his high draft pick, but I'd like to see him resign if he can get his mental attitude checked. Bring on the draft....

I am optomistic on the lance briggs deal... he is from CA...Elk Grove to be more specific (close to Sac)

He just opened a restuarant http://www.smokehouse55.com/home

If anything, maybe being closer to home and his roots would give him a kick start..

that's quite possible. my guess is that st louis works it out with the rams, the chargers move into the LA area, and the raiders continue to stay in the colliseum until mt. davis crumbles to the ground.

The colliseum is just too gross and awful. If Oakland doesn't find a way to make a stadium deal, the Raiders will eventually just move to San Jose and share the park with the Niners if they can't get a hold of the L.A. market because the chargers or Rams already sealed it. The Jets subleased the Meadowlands from the Giants for decades before the new stadium was built as a partnership and so there is obvious precedent for this working with AFC/NFC teams in the same spot. Much more reasonable than the absurd Chargers/Raiders division rival shared park that was suggested. The problems and cost overruns at Levi's Stadium seem to suggest to me that the Niners would dearly love to hold another 8 NFL games per season in their new ballpark to help cover those rough first 10 years of overhead.

It's funny, I kind of think the opposite. I feel like, if I was home, I would think more about all the other stuff I was used to and could do and have rather than work in that punishing profession. If you are living somewhere just to work, that's pretty much it. When the season is over, you go back to your regular life. Personal entanglements too. It's nice to be near your family, but if you are into family life, it could be a distraction...

Not really into arguing it, but it just struck me the opposite way...in the case of Lynch, tho, the fact that he does so much charity work here would make the proactive hometown hero thing better, but that ain't gonna happn.

Would be interesting to hear from pros that had had those experiences by comparison.

Zero chance they share Levi's with the Niners.

Only "realistic" option for Raiders staying in the Bay Area is if Coliseum City happens and they build new Football and Baseball stadiums after the Warriors move to SF.

I'd love the raiders to move into a new facility, but the reality is the city still owes a ton of money on the building. the a's and raiders can grumble about moving all they want. there could be rumors until the cows come home. Yet at the end of each season, I predict we continue to see the only baseball/football stadium get even more gross and awful before either team moves. I'd be stoked if I'm wrong.

Why do you think that?

Do you think we could make raw sewage in the bullpen like a monthly event, just for fun? :laughing

There's a better chance than "zero", as both the Commish and the 9ers have stated that they'd agree to the deal. The Raiders are the ones not interested at this point, preferring either an Oakland or So Cal location for a new stadium. I'd say its unlikely that it happens, but its not a dead in the water idea by any means.

Yeah, I mean it is the least profitable deal option for the Raiders, right? I just think they would rather take a sublease deal from the Niners and move more into SOuth Bay money than to just stay and stink in that bad old ball park.

stop it... im TRYING to be optimistic. haha

Yeah, as a 49ers fan, I'm thinking about a lot of crisp fall Sundays to go out and get stuff done at least this year. I keep TRYING to imagine that somehow, despite the personnel changes, they aren't gonna be stinkin up their Levi's, but I don't see it, man. Ah well, I DVR all of it anyway, so.....

Is it the least profitable deal option for the Raiders? I'm have no idea how the revenue sharing on a stadium is done. I know its in Santa Clara's best interest to have two NFL teams using that stadium.
