mass exodus?

there is ONE player who is leaving that wasn't expected to, and that's Willis. Even with that, Borland is ready to step in.

Damnit, man!?! Can't I even have one Chicken Little moment without you coming along and pointing out the Chicken Littleness of it?:afm199

pretty sad to see Willis go... but cant be mad at the guy.

I am optimistic about the future... with Aldon Smith, Lynch, Borland and hopefully Bowman we seem to be in okay shape...

Can we please cut Jonathon martin also...

Well, you're not totally unjustified. The reality is, planned or not, the whole roster is churning like crazy. For Niner fans, the team taking the field the last few years has been largely kicking ass and taking names. It makes perfect sense to be nervous as you realize that the team you will see on the field this year will have a completely different and unproven identity and some of the biggests evterans left like Salary-Kaep, were some of the biggest question marks last year.

And damnation to you too, Eldy!!! Stop feeding my inner Chicken!!:afm199

Per Pro Football Reference the 9ers were 10th in total D last year. They've been in the top 10 for close to 10 years now. The offense fell of the cliff. The offense needs to be more productive if we ever hope to grab another Lombardi. Harbaugh's offense, while adequate for getting into the playoffs, fell short. It may have had more to do with ol' Lumpy (GRo) than Harbs but Harbs was the HC so it stops there.

I still maintain that one of the biggest catalysts for Harbaugh leaving was his refusal to fire Roman.

The defense will still be good. The offense is what needs to get better.

They're trading Max Unger and a 1st round pick for him?

Holy shit.

Wilson already had to run for his fucking life because of the OLine and they're trading probably their best one?

:wow:rofl:rofl:rofl

And the fans talked so much smack about him and how BamBam shut him down. Called him all kinds of names related to a weak pussy. That's some funny shit right there.

wouldn't the GM have the authority to fire Roman without Harbaugh's permission?

I mean, yes but generally HCs are allowed to bring in their own staff.

Can't imagine it would go over well if the HC wasn't on board with firing a coordinator like that.

Yeah, ol' Lumpy's failings didn't really hit me until the Vikings game in 2012. I thought the inconsistency and lack of adjustment/spontaneity was due to the newness of the scheme. And don't get me started on the constant TO due to slow play-call transfer to the QB. And Harbs never did anything to remedy it as far as I can tell. In fact I'm with you. I think he defended GRo to the end and his refusal to can him was a huge issue with Baalke/York.

List of departures:
PWilly
JSmith
Gore
Crabtree
Iupati
Culliver
Skuta

Cox could be gone as well.

Replacements:
Bowman (iffy)
Carradine/Dockett
Hyde
?? - Draft?
Martin the younger
Cox/Cook
Lemonier

Biggest question mark for me is Bowman.

^^ Where's the offense? I guess Torrey Smith is the splash. Is Boldin coming back? Vernon had a down year. Hope he's back to some form.

Smith/Boldin/Ellington/Patton is a solid WR corp. I bet they draft another one.

Hyde/Hunter is a good RB duo, and rumor is they're looking at another change of pace guy. CJ Spiller would be nice.

Davis needs to pull his head out.

Bengals pick up AJ Hawk. Hopefully that's to add depth and not expected to be a starter.

I cant believe the Giants signed LT Newhouse. The dude is HORRIBLE.

Indy is signing some old dudes.. maybe they pan out, maybe they dont. Not too many successful 30 year old RB's, the wheels come of those guys quickly. Johnson had a good year in Houston with a revolving QB situation. I imagine he has a great year with Luck throwing to him.

I didn't realize we picked up TSmith. Nice acquisition. And they'll draft another one to fight for Boldin's spot when he moves on but I don't see any splashy moves to pick up a big name receiver on draft day. Maybe move one or two spots if the deal is right. I get the feeling that one of the reasons the 2012 draft was such a calamity is because Baalke and co. were picking to fill holes instead of picking the best available.

My theory is 2012 was a throwaway. The team was fucking stacked so they had the chance to take a bunch of lottery tickets and projects

They lost on all of em though :laughing

There were some gems in that draft though. And had they gone with best player available I think they would have chosen differently.
