Jeans/Knee&shin Armor most likely end up getting draggin' jeans. The optional padding/Kevlar seems worth it.

You figured me out. Drat!

Say, you wouldn't happen to know of a local company that makes riding apparel, would you? Maybe one that cuts the suits to fit the rider? And makes them out of cow skin?

I used to ride in jeans 90% of the time, even when i had leathers to pair up with my jacket. Now, I can't really ride without the leathers, too uncomfortable. Only time I ever go in jeans now is if I'm just going downtown 5 minutes away

lol, I wear a 58/32. I got quoted at Johnson's leathers in S.F. (who custom made my jacket for me) close to $450 for a pair of pants. Would I be over paying? (totally a loaded question lol)

Depends on the size of your kawk, I suppose. :p

Learn from my mistake...

I used to wear jeans when I rode to work and around town... Even occasionally on some group twisty rides.

Never again...

HOly crap, I just got the heeby jeebies!!

Yeah, umm, I ride with jeans...underneath my textile :twofinger, but I was thinking about it last night when I was riding pretty fast..a good looking pair of leathers might be nice.

Just as with stan23, I have learned the hard way that jeans do not help much. The worst for me was at 15-20 mph with a passenger when I lost the front turning at night as I hit some gravel in the road. It happened so quick that I went down on my knee with the bike and the passengers weight on the knee. It looked as if someone took a big chunk out of the knee next to the kneecap with a fork. Couldn't walk for three weeks.

Being thick headed, it happened again at around 50-60 mph wearing jeans and a jean jacket with two shirts underneeth. Tumbled a couple of times and was up, but more knee scrapage and stitches in both elbows.

Now it's leather for most rides, jeans with knee/shin gaurds for the store etc..

I've gone down with the knee guards at low speed and they have saved my knees further injury.

Most of the time i just wear Dickies usually, with knee/shin guards and boots.

I'll wear this when commuting to work, or just going down the street.

sometimes i substitute the textile pants for the dickies

I'll wear the 1 pc leathers when i go to the twisties on the weekend, with no destination planned

I just got a compliment from a female coworker on my Icon's ;)

Because you'll have some crazed giant leprechaun-looking dude hanging off you?

:rofl

This is how "Cold Shower" began. OMG :wow

:laughing

I have never worn jeans while riding, in fact I've never worn anything else except for full leather on any ride, no matter how short the ride. I've taken the cage when I've ran late and didn't have enough time to gear up (like yesterday to the barf lunch at Amber :p)

I'm ATGalmostATT. Riding without the earplugs and suit is big-silly-grin fun.

Ok protective pants all the time, Thanks STAN23

Often wear jeans/boots. Sometimes I wear jeans/armor/boots. If I am specifically going riding, I USUALLY wear full gear, but have gone cruising with just jeans. I don't wear jeans because they protect from impact/abbrasion; I wear jeans to protect from elements, engine/pipe heat, bugs, dirt, rocks, chain grease, etc. Besides Dickies/Benny D's/Dockers/Cords etc just seem out of place on an MC.

I have an interesting dilemma now that I have a plated dirt bike though. What do the ATGATTs say about riding dirt bikes on the street? I have worn the armor/boots/jeans/leather jacket combo, I have worn the full dirt gear combo (I don't think dirt pants are any better than jeans), and on my most recent ride I wore dirt boots/armor/pants with leather jacket, and street gloves.

I truelly believe in the mitigated risk method of gearing up with some weight put towards convenience. If I hop on the bike to run to cycle gear, I will probably just throw the jacket and helmet on with whatever shoes (as long as I at least have work/hiking/cowboy boots on to begin with) I have on. If I am running around the corner I will just throw on a helmet and gloves (mandatory minimums in my world).

I'll second that.

I have worn A* armored jeans(CE in the knees and kevlar lined from hips to knees) for a couple years. I have noticed my riding style has progressed beyond the jeans. I pick up my A* leather track pants today.

That's the nice thing about having an Aerostich -- I never need to think about what to wear when I'm riding. It takes about 5 seconds longer to put on than a jacket, so why wear anything else?

Running to the store: Aerostich
Riding to work: Aerostich
Twisties: Aerostich
Week-long trip: Aerostich
Track day, if I ever do one: Aerostich

Hanging out at a leather bar: leathers, obviously. :teeth

You forgot one:

Looking like king dousche of the BMW world: Aerostich
