Wine Country Ablaze

You guys!!! Please take care.

Hang in there, guys. Please let us know if we can do anything for any of you.

Weird morning. Light breeze, thank goodness. Heard on Nixle that there is a new fire just started in the North. I will get more info soon. We are not out of the woods yet.

Winds are blowing strong due east.

Good for me, bad for others.

Turns out I'm about 10 miles west of a new fire up near New Long Valley Rd by Hwy 20. Winds are down and I'm hearing lots of air support and sirens heading that way. Thinking they're on it! Friend here is about to hop on the KTM and get to the highest ridge to access the sitch.

Just found out that Cow Mountain is closed. Just too dry and dangerous. Hope no one was planning on riding there.

They are saying no new evacuations needed or planned for Napa County at this point.
Winds are helping and they're reinforcing their fire breaks and lines.

Sonoma is in danger and north of Sonoma towards Santa Rosa.

You guys, how can we help you personally? What do you need?

I would like to know as well. We have a team of caring people trying to plan something. We have a conference call this morning.

Could be a clothing drive, a people drive to come help clean up after or????

Focusing on the people who lost things or had damage will be important. I don't know if anyone did. I texted a bit with Koi last night when Sonoma lit off but from what I can tell, no BARFers have been affected. Most of the volunteer organizations are asking that people stop bringing "in kind" donations and start bringing gift cards that can be appropriately distributed. I'm sure, as the days pass, things will change. We are not out of the woods.

Being advised to sleep in shifts tonight...

I'm the only one here...

Hearing booms again.

Little market around the corner from me was just robbed.

Dafuq people. Da.... Actual..... Fuck

Which one ?!? That's like 3 robberies this week with CVS getting robbed and my coworker said Economy got broken into tues or weds.

Ugh, yeah

No clothes or food right now, as gobs of clothes have been taken in and food is plentiful. What is going to be needed is gift cards right now. $25 visa prepaid are what they are asking for specifically.

Clean up could be set up at a future date as right now things are too unstable to ask of anyone to come up here.

:love Keep the good vibes going, we appreciate it.

I know of one Barfer who lost everything, not sure how many others are out there.

The people who keep offering me cash and stuff are awesome, but I keep saying to wait until the dust settles and help those who actually need it. I've still got my house and cat and bikes. Others out there don't.

Granted, I'd love a track day to get my mind off this, or an epic Adventure group ride, or a barf bash with lots of beer.

But that's all selfish and not important in the big scheme of things.

And now we know where our efforts should be focused. If said BARFer is okay with sharing the info with budman, I think that would be the best place to focus efforts.

I didn't lose my house but my mom lost hers and she is living with us for the foreseeable future. I've been texting with the barf baja crew about organizing a cleanup/recovery party once the evacuation is lifted. We are fine otherwise except for some small furniture needs like a desk and dresser but we are scouring cl and will find them I'm sure.

We had a conference call last night with other friends of her's who lost everything which included a couple who lost their home in the Lake County fires two years ago. They were very helpful and recommended http://www.uphelp.org/ as a resource for anyone trying to navigate the insurance hell thats coming. Feels weird to be moving forward while so many others are still in jeopardy but its just where we are in the process I guess.

Fire is coming down the hill towards Mondavi.... So much for the fire break. :(

I don't get any local BA area news in my neck of the woods. Is there any end in site, any progress being made at putting these out, any chance they were deliberately started?

Containment is growing but a long way from being put out.

No word on cause but most people saying power lines down.

Stream kvon radio 1440am for current info better than mainstream news.
