BARF Militia

Well, bitches, this Sunday was cool. Took my HSC test with my dad (to keep him company). Went to Reed's, looked at some gizzuns...decided we want to get a magnum wheelgun of some sort soon, double-action, the cowboy shit looks weird.

Went to Ken's house to check out my birthday gift and took a bunch of pics:

Man, I knew I should've closed the action and put my finger on the trigger while looking down the barrel :laughing :twofinger

Don't worry, Steve, I was hoping for a reaction :p

And Mike, :twofinger

Ted Nugent is in the news:

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20050418/D89HG71G0.html

Choice quotes:

"Remember the Alamo! Shoot 'em!" he screamed to applause. "To show you how radical I am, I want carjackers dead. I want rapists dead. I want burglars dead. I want child molesters dead. I want the bad guys dead. No court case. No parole. No early release. I want 'em dead. Get a gun and when they attack you, shoot 'em."

You just have to admire that kind of bravado! :laughing

That's not bravado, that's just idiocy. I wouldn't want that man associated with my interest group. What the fuck?

Ted Nugent urged National Rifle Association members to be "hardcore, radical extremists demanding the right to self defense."

:hand

How about normal citizens acting in the interest of the preservation of the original intent of the US Constitution? :confused

There's another problem with America..in order to get anything done, you have to swing one way or the other. Now we have rabid gun-grabbing liberals, and hardcore radical extremist conservatives :rolleyes

Yeah I agree with you, Webber. While I admire his arrogance, I don't agree with the message.

Nugent is always good for a laugh, though.

Looks just like mine! You'll love it...I was amazed how quickly I was shooting good groups with it.

BARRY GOLDWATER: I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. [applause] Let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.

:thumbup

Cap a rapist, cap a carjacker, cap a violent criminal. :thumbup

I can live with the consequences. Protecting my wife is Job #1.

The problem is Nugent wants NRA members to be hardcore, maybe he hopes a radicalized behavior will "trickle upward" to the NRA leadership? Because right now the NRA is certainly the most moderate of the gun rights group. On the issues, I'll take Gun Owners of America, CCRKBA, or KABA.com over the NRA any day of the week. I don't want background checks, I don't want carry permits, I don't want a single federal gun control law. The only state law re: guns should be, "Use a gun during the commision of a violent crime, and you are going to be punished severely.

Plus, Ted is just trying to get gun owners motivated and off their butts. An interesting discussion is going on on the ca-firearms mailing list, about how many gun owners are not even registered to vote, much less do anything whatsoever in order to keep anti-gun politicians from squashing our rights. One post said:

I am believe that the problem is deeper than this. About 4 years ago someone took the list of attendees from a gun show (you know the list they put together so that they can mail you notices of upcoming gun shows) and compared this to voting registration lists from the counties around where the gun show was held. I believe that this was in Orange County. What they found was that only about 6% of the gun show attendees were registered to vote. The only conclusion possible is that over 90% of gun owners in California are too lazy to even register to vote. And somehow we think that we might be able to get a significant number of them to call and write their representatives!

I remember once stopping by an NRA table outside of a gun show in the Bay Area to chat. The guy at the table would ask everyone that walked by "Are you an NRA member?" "Are you registered to vote?" Of course I said yes to both questions since I am a life NRA member and I always vote (I have only missed one election since 1968 because the DMV screwed up my registration when I moved). But at least 80% of those asked answered no to both questions. When asked if they wanted to join the NRA or register to vote most said something like "No I don't want to be on a list." I asked the NRA recruiter if this was unusual and he said no. So my personal experience is that the vast majority of gun owners in California are not doing their duty as citizens and voting. So how do we get these folks to "find five minutes a day to support your civil rights" when they will not even spend a half an hour every two years to vote?

I think that gun owner voting (actually non-voting) is the real "how do we get things to change" issue for us. I also believe that it is particularly bad in California. If we could get the majority of gun owners to just vote it would have a huge impact. I have no idea how to motivate this group of non-voting gun owners. Perhaps we could offer free beer at polling stations for anyone that can prove they are a gun owner :)

I should add that I don't think the problem lays with those that are allready NRA or GOA or CRPA members. The vast majority of them are voting in most elections. But these folks are only a very small part of the gun owning public. The NRA has about 4 million members which is slightly over 1.5% of the US population of which 35% to 40% are gun owners. This means that the NRA only has about 5% of gun owners as members. What do we do about the other 95%?

"WANGO TANGO" Bitches.
Ted is cool
It was friggen hilarious when he would pw3n that dumb bitch Skye(sp) on the Mikey show(ksjo)

Hey guys,
My dad and I have been plotting and scheming for the past two days since he got his hsc and is filing his C&R app...

question:
We found a Yugoslav Crvena Zastava Model 70 pistol for sale on GunsAmerica.com

http://www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976453869.htm

Is this thing highly-illegal in California? I didn't see it on the roster of handguns certified for sale, but probably because only about seventeen of these things exist in the US. Whatchu think? It's a 1970 model, so no C&R status for another 15 years :(

Anyone had a gun refinished by Robar?
http://www.robarguns.com/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=4&tabindex=2

I've been dreaming about having my GP100 refinished, because it has some permanant fingerprints on the cylinder, and some minor rusting under the triggerguard.
I just discovered Robar is giving a 10% discount on finishes ordered in April.

Now I just have to decide between Roguard and NP3. :teeth

Happy Patriot's Day!

"Disperse, You Rebels! Damn You! Throw Down Your Arms and Disperse!" British Major John Pitcairn's futile order to the American Patriots at Lexington, April 19th, 1775

Last night, April 18th, marks the 230th anniversary of Paul Revere's Midnight Ride.

Today, April 19th, the 230th anniversary of the battles of Lexington and Concord. A date, which, while never a national holiday, was long celebrated througout New England as Patriot's Day.

Unfortunately, it is also the anniversary of the Waco Murders, and of the bombing of the Murtaugh Federal Office Building in Oklahoma City.

Because of that, people who wish to celebrate April 19th as Patriot's Day are frequently suspected by the government of being dangerous right-wing radicals, or dismissed by the liberal media as kooks.

So be it.

"You Know The Rest. In The Books You Have Read,
How The British Regulars Fired And Fled,
How The Farmers Gave Them Ball For Ball,
From Behind Each Fence And Barnyard Wall,
Chasing The Redcoats Down The Land,
Then Crossing The Fields To Emerge Again
Under The Trees At The Turn Of The Road,
And Only Pausing To Fire And Load."

THE MIDNIGHT RIDE OF PAUL REVERE
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I got to pick up my Glock 19 today!! What a great day indeed. I took it home, read the manual, figured out how to field-strip it, marveled at the interior parts, gasped at how fingerprint-resistant the metal surfaces are, and then put it away and went back to work. Here's a pic of it in its official Glock case:
