I got to pick up my Glock 19 today!! What a great day indeed. I took it home, read the manual, figured out how to field-strip it, marveled at the interior parts, gasped at how fingerprint-resistant the metal surfaces are, and then put it away and went back to work. Here's a pic of it in its official Glock case:

:laughing I see, that way the kids can play with it

Anyone had a gun refinished by Robar?
http://www.robarguns.com/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=4&tabindex=2

I've been dreaming about having my GP100 refinished, because it has some permanant fingerprints on the cylinder, and some minor rusting under the triggerguard.
I just discovered Robar is giving a 10% discount on finishes ordered in April.

Now I just have to decide between Roguard and NP3. :teeth

Send it back to Ruger. They'll reblue it for cheap, I've even heard of them returning the pistol no charge. Ask them to give it a look over as well.

I have a friend who did Robar camo finishes on his Serbu and Glock. They looked cool but I don't know what their standard finishes that you'd want on a GP100 would look like.

Sweet Glock. :thumbup

I like my 23 but I had to trim the trigger safety a bit as it was giving me blisters. The trigger pull in nice if a bit sproingy. Just gotta get used to it and then it works great.

I was going with Roguard, their black finish. I'd never have to worry about rust again!

Anyone know who the Chief Law Enforcement Officer for Santa Clara County is? I can't find this shit anywhere, and I need his info in order to send him a copy of the 03FFL (C&R) my dad's filling out :cry I'll ask on calguns

"Chief Law Enforcement Officer for Santa Clara County" for county residents is the Sheriff, otherwise the Chief of Police for whatever city if in city limits.

should be able to get the name from the Sheriff's Dept webpage.

ok, I just wasn't sure if I'm getting the Sheriff's info or the Chief of Police. 'Cause my house is technically in Santa Clara county, but it's in the city of San Jose (being incorporated and all). :confused

Let us know how that C&R stuff goes, I've been thinking about doing that myself.

And regarding who the CLEO is, it depends on who you ask. If you ask SJPD they'll tell you it's SCCSO, if you ask SCCSO they'll tell you it's SJPD. I found that out about 4 years ago when I was asking both departments where to get a CCW application.

CCW's are hard to get in this state, just about impossible in the Bay Area. How did it go for you?

I asked about it at the Concord PD and was told that the Chief won't even give ccw to reserve officers...

Guys, Glock question about
<---------------

I've read that it is possible to over-oil the gun? After the last time I went shooting, I shot some 165grain rounds and everything went off without a hitch. When I got home, I cleaned it and oiled it - maybe a little too much.

So I went shooting the other night with what I'm pretty sure was the same ammo (new purchase, exact same box) and the damn thing was failing to eject 1 out of every 3-4 rounds! Needless to say, I was very frustrated.

Then I read that the method for oiling a glock is different from other guns. Could this problem have been caused by too much oil?

Well, seeing that both SCCSO and SJPD sees each other as the issuing authority... I never found out who the hell to get the CCW application from and I basically gave up after getting the runaround. Which, I think, is exactly what they want.

Glocks should be almost dry. They are specific about needing like 5 drops of oil. Too much is a bad thing. Do a search on glocktalk.com and you will find tons of information.

Did you ever get it? If not, you can download it here:

Well, in any case, here's Quote of the Day from Ronnie Barrett:

"Barrett cannot legally sell any of its products to lawbreakers.
Therefore, since California's passing of AB50, the state is not in
compliance with the US Constitution's 2nd and 14th Amendments, and we
will not sell nor service any of our products to any government agency
of the State of California."

Yep! I loved how he slammed them for deliberately lying about the AW ban, and is refusing to service their stuff. I wish a few more mfg's would do that.

That's what Ford did when a bunch of podunk PDs decided to sue them over their Crown Vics.

Police give up suit so they can buy Crown Victorias
By Mick Zawislak Daily Herald Staff Writer
Posted Tuesday, February 15, 2005
In Libertyville, as in most other local departments, the Ford Crown Victoria is the choice for police cruisers.

Getting them has become an issue, however, because of an ongoing court action. To get new cars delivered on time, nearly a dozen area communities will opt out of a lawsuit brought three years ago in downstate St. Clair County.

"Much to our chagrin, we find Ford will not allow us to order police vehicles as long as we're part of this class action suit," said Libertyville Police Chief Pat Carey.

The suit was brought in 2002 by the St. Clair County sheriff's office and nearby Centreville Police Department, alleging Ford committed fraud by failing to disclose alleged problems with the car to law enforcement agencies.

More than a dozen officers nationwide since 1983 were killed in fiery crashes after their Crown Victorias were rear-ended. No fatalities have been reported in Illinois.

A jury last fall ruled the cars are safe but a judge still has to decide whether Ford violated Illinois consumer fraud laws. Plaintiffs have argued for a new trial and an appeal is possible.

The continuing court action has left many communities with a decision.

Libertyville wants to replace six squad cars - half the marked police cars in town - but faces an order deadline. Ford won't sell police vehicles to government units involved in the action.

"This is not the kind of thing we've ever run into before," Carey said.

The Libertyville village board agreed last week to opt out. Vernon Hills will consider the action tonight. The two towns have or will be joined by 10 other communities, including Lincolnshire, Buffalo Grove and Barrington, that will opt out in unison.

Communities will be represented by Iain Johnston of the Chicago law firm Holland & Knight LLC.

Johnston said at least a couple hundred communities were included in the class action. A notice allowing communities to opt out was sent in late 2003. Ford subsequently decided not to sell cars to remaining parties, he said.

"All these departments needed cars," he said. "That caused a huge problem."

Johnston said he will file an opt-out motion on behalf of the communities to be heard April 14 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Mundelein has avoided any problems by opting out of the suit in November 2003.

"This has taken on a life of its own across the country," said police Chief Ray Rose. "It didn't make any sense to get all caught up in this."

Local departments say they have been aware of the alleged defect for years, Carey said. Libertyville's fleet mechanics have made modifications to older vehicles as recommended and there are no "operational limitations" with the cars, Carey said.

Vernon Hills plans to replace seven Crown Victorias by mid-2006.

"There aren't that many cars out there that fit our needs without going to an SUV," said Deputy Chief Bill Price.

Imagine what we'd accomplish if Glock, Beretta, Springfield, Colt etc. did the same thing when a PD decides to support a ban.
