BARF Militia

you'd think that for an online pic of one of their pistols they would find one with better roll-mark on the slide (the crest) and would have lined up the grip screws so the slots are parallel.

They should have some of the parts Titanium Nitrided to get a Nickle/Gold Bling thing going :laughing

uh, Ben, the TRP operator is as big as they come :confused Unless you mean the "loaded" operator? that was the same size as the TRP, just has a FLGR instead of a bull barrel, and the sights and finish are different as you know.
Current generation MC Operators have 3/4 dust shroud/light rails. but other than that they are all full size 5" barrel .45s

well you know what i mean, the one thats green frame black slide,. standard night sites, bushing on the barrel, and half railed. THATS the one i should have gotten. the "loaded" operator,.

why i dont like the trp operator; i HATE the target sights, and im not too fond of the guiderod and spring system, its not complicated, but its just not as easy to field strip as a standard full lenght guide rod system like in my kimber.
i guess i can just swap out the sights and that gun would be a lot better, but hell im looking for an excuse to buy another one.

bill you interesed in target sights? for you operator? we can send our guns off to a gunsmith and do a even trade LOL. dont know if your slide is cuz to accomidate it though

.......And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.'

Looks like Samuel L Jacksons gun from Pulp Fiction

SACRAMENTO
Panel OKs ID marks on bullets
Police would be able to trace ammo used in crimes in state

Christian Berthelsen, Chronicle Staff Writer

Wednesday, April 27, 2005

Sacramento -- Legislation that would require handgun ammunition to carry identifying markings that could be used to trace spent rounds at crime scenes back to the person who purchased the bullets passed out of a state Senate committee Tuesday.

If the bill ultimately becomes law, California would become the first state in the nation to impose such requirements on bullet manufacturers. It has the support of law enforcement officials but is opposed by gun interests such as the NRA, bullet manufacturers and shooting enthusiasts.

The proposal would provide investigators with a huge leap forward in their efforts to trace ammunition at a crime scene to the person who fired it. Though ballistics testing enables police to connect a bullet to the gun that fired it, its use in investigations is limited because investigators need to recover both the gun and the bullet to confirm a match.

While bullets used in a crime may have been lost or stolen from their original purchaser, knowing who that person is will provide a starting point for investigators that they previously have not had, supporters say. Randy Rossi, the director of the firearms division at the state Department of Justice, likened it to "a license plate falling off a car when driven from a crime scene."

Noting that California homicides increased to 2,400 last year from 2,000 the year before -- with 45 percent unsolved -- law enforcement officials urged senators on the committee to vote for the bill. Nearly three-quarters of the state's homicides in 2003 were committed with a firearm.

"We're going to solve (more) crimes if this bill becomes law," Attorney General Bill Lockyer testified.

Opponents said the new requirement would impose difficult financial burdens on the high-volume, low-margin business of bullet manufacturing, raising the cost of ammunition and probably driving some companies out the state -- if not out of business altogether.

Lawrence G. Keane, the general counsel of the National Shooting Sports Foundation, said the proposal would present bullet makers with a "Hobson's choice -- either comply and go bankrupt, or abandon the California market."

The bill, SB357 by Sen. Joe Dunn, D-Garden Grove, was passed by the Senate Public Safety Committee on a 4-2 vote along party lines. It still must be passed by both houses of the Legislature and be signed by the governor before it can become law.

It would require handgun manufacturers to mark bullets with unique identifiers, such as serial numbers. Those numbers would be used to track whom the bullets are sold to, including the name and address of the purchaser. The information would be maintained in an electronic database run by the attorney general's office.

The legislation applies only to handgun ammunition, not long guns. It also contains a provision that would require all bullets manufactured and sold in the state to carry the new identifiers by July 2007.

Dunn said that the far-off effective date would give people enough time to expend their existing supplies of ammunition but that there needed to be a firm date after which new supplies must be marked.

Sheriffs and police chiefs from several counties and cities, including Alameda County and Emeryville, also testified in support.

Lockyer likened the proposal to previous legislation that advanced law enforcement investigation efforts, such as funding for DNA labs. "The weighing of public benefits versus private rights tilts heavily in favor of the public benefits," he said.

I don't think there is any wat that will pass. But if it does, I'll be right on your heels. Well, actually I'll be leaving in two to three years anyhow I think.

This law will never do much good. For it to work they need serial numbers law to be aleast federal. It's not very hard to buy bullets out of state.

Then my big question; what about all the ammo people already have. I'll just buy new ammo for target pratice and sell my old stuff for $5,000 a bullet (like Chris Rock predited)

3 brand new Sig Pro magazines: $37
2 boxes of Remington UMC .40cal ammo: $22
The look on your anti-gun roommate's face when he walks into you room and catches you taking pictures of loaded magazines: priceless

There are some things money can't buy, for everything else, there's MasterCard.

It's got nothing to do with "good". The aim of this bill, like all the other BS that CA legislators like to put out, is to inconvenience gun-owners, and make it difficult to exercise our rights. The aim is to make owning a gun such a hassle that most people won't bother, essentially a de facto, albeit voluntary, ban. They don't yet have the strength to ban all guns, so they hack away at the 2nd Amendment with BS little laws like these. It's "death by a thousand cuts", and we CA gun-owners are bleeding bad.

I can't believe those idiot LEO agencies actually got behind this. If this bill passes, I hope the ammo manufacturers grab their collective nuts, "pull a Ronnie" and tell CA LEO agencies to fuck off. "Oh, you support stupid legislation? NO AMMO FOR YOU!"

Miran,

You got three mags for $37? Are they factory mags? The ones for my 229 are like $39 a piece. Hmmm.

BTW, buy Winchester Value Packs at Wallmart for $15.99 per 100 rounds. Best deal out there on .40 S&W.

new, factory originals :) I love the internet. Thanks for the hot tip on the ammo, but there's a reason I buy at Big 5 (where I work) and it deals with the numbers 1, 9, 8 and 5 on my ID ;)

Damn, Mag's for every gun I own cost a arm and a leg (cept for the glock mags)

Eh, just tell them that the .40 is for your Ruger PC4 carbine.

Yeah, all my mags seem to be pricey too. Of course in the real world right now you can get AR mags for like ten bucks and HK91/G3 mags for like three bucks. I paid almost thirty a piece for mine in the late '90s. :(

suprising its allowed, not sure I would want such a small diameter high velocity round for distances a handgun is used in.

Major over penetration issues I would expect.

But it is still cool.

aw that would suck big time if that law gets passed.

and yeah fiveseven is cool, but the ammo is a little too expensive right now. thats why i didnt get a 17hmr rifle. shit i still have to get a 10/22 lol

I saw the ad for Reed's Clearance Sale. Anyone have experience with this, anything worth looking at (prices, etc.)?

Well, the ad I saw didn't list anything specific, just 10-40% off so you probably just need to go check to see if they have a good price on anything interesting. But even 10% off some guns is noth that bad. Thats like $130 off a basic M1a.
