BARF Militia

I have a Remington 597, and it's a decent rifle for how dirt cheap it is. Also have a 572, and prefer it.

The 10/22 is pretty small with crappy sights. It used to be dirt cheap ($99 at Walmart) to offset that, but now they are kinda expensive. The biggest advantage for them was the widely available 25-round magazines, but you can't get those in CA anymore, but it has a huge after market if you want to pour $1000 into your $200 rifle.

The Marlins are pretty groovy too.

The biggest difference between the rimfires, aside from overall size, is whether they have 10-round detachable magazines, or higher-capacity tubular magazines like my 572 or most Marlins.

If you don't like stuffing magazines, tubular is the way to go. You simply remove the plunger at the end of the magazine, drop in 14 rounds, then stick the plunger back in and shoot. :cool

Looks like I'll have to spend some time at Reed's to see which one fits me best...

Are the CA gun laws as strict with .22 rifles? What (if any) are the restrictions?

Anyone who's stuffing an airsoft shell with a .22: can I have your airsoft guts? I'm mounting an airsoft gun on an R/C plane for strafing and the one I have is a super cheapo $20 gun.

You're more than welcome to my airsoft guts out of my Best Elephant Steyr AUG. They don't come out as a unit though, and may require some ingenuity to get it all to work. Plus it's kinda heavy.

EDIT: Here's my .22lr stuffed into an airsoft body. It's almost done. Just need to spend probably another 6 hours or so to finish it.

Alright, thanks a ton. I'll finish the project with the light, cheap gun I have, and if it is not good enough, I'll bug you. The airplane is pretty small so weight is a concern.

ahah holy shite! done already Chi?!

Nah, rimfire rifles are pretty much exempt from all the Assault Weapons nonsense, except that detachable magazines can't hold more than 10 rounds. The attached tubular magazines can be any capacity.

I really really want one of the single action CZ75s. Man I love those things. Congrats on the nice new gun. Oh, and my friend is back in the country if you're planning another women's shoot. She's got a lot of toys to play with.

Woo! I'll see how many of the self-defense women are interested. A bunch of them had a great time, and at least one wants to get a gun of her own now.

Woo Hoo! I just mailed off my money for the south-bay P6 group buy. I've always wanted a Sig. I can't wait!

DSR-1 is completely CA legal. It has an OAL of 38" and is a bolt action. Unfortunately I think there are two issues at hand. 1. I don't think they offer it for sale on the consumer market. It appears to be LEO only at this point. And 2. when and if they do offer it, the BATF might not find any sporting purpose for it, and thus not allow it to be imported. :(

For a target/practice pistol, you would want the grip and ergo to closely match your other guns for consistency, right? So, my thinking is that the fancy right handed grip on the MK III that I was looking at may not transfer as well as to my XD (or any other future full sized gun). Am I making too much out of nothing?
