When's the next Chabot outing? I've been a bit lax on my pistol practice. :(

What about a post Christmas shoot on the 26th while everyone is out returning everything?

Zefflyn, cool article. People forget that handgun shots are only fatal in about 18% of occurences. That's why you need to pump two to the chest and if nothing happens pop one in the occular cavity. :troy :teeth

A little insider tip:

Mosberg 500 12 gauge shotguns on sale at Big 5, new in box.
Come with accessories, and unless my manager was lying to me, they also come with two barrels, the standard 28" and the "security" barrel (20").

$219

Thats how much I got my Mossberg 500 for.

And they shoot great. It feels soo good to go out and shoot some trap with a $200, and do better then the jokers out there $1500-3000 guns. Just goes to show dumping a bunch of money into your equipment dont mean shit if you still cant aim wirth a dayam.:laughing

Trap scores from Wed.
1st round -18 2nd
2nd round -22 1st
3rd round - 18 2nd

Like I said not bad for a $220 gun.

AY! You ever shoot the 3 gun?

Nope. I want to. But you have to go through all the PPC stuff before you do 3-Gun. I don't want to bother with PPC.

Hey Ratters! I know you want one of these shirts:

OK gang...

Here is the finished product.

First image is the back piece with text. It'll be 12-14 inches wide.

First image also goes over the heart, only without the text, and will be 3.5-4 inches wide.

Second image is the art for the left sleeve. It'll be 4 inches wide from one end of the banner to the other. I had another one like it with a bunch more stuff going in the design, but it ended up looking like crap, so I went with minimalist approach. The image will cap off the left shoulder.

Third image is my mark, will be 1.5 inches wide, and be centered in the middle of the back, 1 inch down from the collar of the shirt.

So there you have it!

BTW, in reference to the quote "dogs have to fight with their face".

It's a Striderism...

Mick was waxing philosophical about the nature of combat and mindset. The entire statement was something to the effect of "We Don't have things so bad. Look at the bright side. Dogs have to fight with their face"....

Hey check this out:

Hunter shot in rump during toilet break

From correspondents in Marseille
December 6, 2004

IT was a case of the hunter being hunted when a 70-year-old French man stopped to relieve himself against a tree Friday and was shot in the backside by his own rifle.

Firefighters in southern France recounting the incident said the unidentified man leant his gun against a car and was shot when it fell to the ground and discharged.

Firemen said the bullet merely grazed his rump, adding that he had escaped serious injury by a centimetre or so.

I'll bet ya $10 he threw up his hands and said, "I SURRENDER!" :laughing

I'll bet you $20 the "taking a dump" story was just a cover, and that he had thrown his gun down and his arms up, upon hearing a frightening noise in the forest, and both soiled and shot himself during his surrender attempt.

Heyyy, question for you 1911 guys...do all 1911's have that dumb saftey on the back of the grip?

Grip safety. Yes, all true 1911s. Some people pin them in place if they don't like it. Personally I don't even realize it's there, when your grip is right, you won't notice it at all.

hrmmm, thanks. I don't like that at all, I thought I was looking at a Springfeild without it.

I keep reading these funny as hell gun stories on other boards, and I just know I'm going to regret it if I don't compile them.

Originally posted by Smoke, THR, on a thread where another member posted about his rabbit attacking his beagle

He bears little resemblance....but I think I met his Granddaddy about 20 years ago.

A bunch of my friends got together out at my place for a little rabbit hunt.

We had chased down a half-dozen Jacks in one trap. We spotted another set of eyes and drove over towards them. The Jack just sits there. I'm in the passenger seat of the pickup, running the spot light. I put the light on him and the guys in the back open up. Dust flies all around the bunny and he just sits there, unharmed. He jumps up and slowly hops about 6 or 7 feet, bullets still flying around him.

He looks annoyed.

After the second barrage, he eyes the pickup, I'm pulling my trusty Ruger Single Six, while trying to keep the light on him. He breaks into a run, zigging and zagging, but on a course for the pickup. I'm frozen....watching in amazement as he continues toward the truck, leaps at it, hits the door about half way up, kicks off, and hops off in the other direction.

Silence. No gun fire. No sounds of reloading. Only the purr of the engine can be heard. Finally from somewhere in the back comes: "Did y'all see that?"

The rabbit is slowly hopping away, stops turns around and looks over his shoulder at all the dumbfounded guys in the pickup with an expression of total disgust.

We all took off our hats, bowed our heads and let the bravest rabbit we ever saw go off into the fading flow of the headlights.

More as I find them.

Hello all,

I just registered with THR today; I love the sight so far. Hopefully all of you will enjoy this.

This is completely true, not a single exaggeration. Also, this is a perfect example of my inability to understand anyone who is against owning or using guns in a safe manner.

Not to long ago, when the "Assault Weapons" ban died, thus significantly increasing our chances of being drive by bayoneting victims, I bought an AR 15 complete with all of the goodies, threaded barrel, bayonet lug, high capacity mags. I have thoroughly enjoyed my purchase.

Anyway, at Thanksgiving a lot of my extended family came over, including my Aunt, who to my knowledge has been conservative and has grown up with guns to a certain extent, she came with her boyfriend from Washington D.C., who was described to me as "a liberal." Now, before making any hasty judgments I thought that I would meet him and make my own decision about his character.

Thanksgiving was very pleasant, Sean didn't seem like to bad of a guy, although my family is generally very conservative and pro gun and we did make some degrading remarks toward liberals. Anyway after dinner, my cousin asked me if she could see my guns. So I hauled out my ar 15 complete with bayonet and thirty round mag attached. My cousin is 18, she is very kind and wouldn't hurt a fly, she exclaimed "cool!" - I thought so too. However, my aunt’s boyfriend- Sean- was in the same room, when he settled his eyes upon the monstrosity that was in my hand, he promptly closed his eyes and lay down on the bed he was on.

I thought this to be strange, but then I thought again that he did live in a part of the country with the most restrictive gun laws and that he probably liked being disarmed and unable to defend himself in the country's most crime ridden area, so I didn't really try to understand his thinking, he is, after all, a liberal.

This is the best part:

The next day I was talking to my aunt about her suitor and discovered that Sean had not had the most pleasant Thanksgiving. She and Sean were staying in our trailer, they had ventured out there to go to bed after the festivities were over.

Word for word, this is how my aunt described her boyfriend retiring for bed:

Upon entering Sean promptly burst into tears and continued wailing on the bed, my aunt lay next to him holding him and trying to console him while he was overcome with the horror of my firearm. He continued in this manner for an unspecified amount of time.

This being the most absurd and hilarious description I have encountered in a long time, I had to know more (After nearly losing conciousness as well as bowel control):

I asked: Was he afraid the gun was going to go off? She said No

I asked: Was he afraid the Bayonet was going to hurt someone? She said No

I asked: Well why the %$^& was he crying?!?!?

She said, Well Sean has never seen a gun in real life before, it was a culture shock, and he was traumatized.

I asked: So was he okay when I was carving the turkey, with my weapon?

She threw the pillow on the couch at me.

I guess that Sean had left something in my room the same day and asked my aunt if "She would go into the 'gun room' and get it for her"

I was completely blown away. I asked her if they ever talked about their differing views in politics, and she said no. I foresee an interesting, if not hateful relationship ensuing.

My dad, upon hearing this story, exclaimed; "I think the only time I could cry over a gun is if I lost it!" How true.

I thought it was truely awesome that I made a grown man cry with an inanimate object, without any threat present whatsover.

So to all of you gun enthusiasts out there, if you want to rouse some emotion in the anti gunners, simply take them to a gun show, at which they will promptly curl up into the fetal position and "find a happy place."

Happy Holidays

Tangential story;

When I first started dating my now wife, her 2 girls were 5 and 3. Wife wasn't into guns before I came in the scene, but was a level headed, practical woman. She was also having problems with a stalker, and wanted a gun available.

I taught her how to shoot, and we discussed exactly when to shoot. Since the girls weren't in to toy guns anyway, wife didn't have any in the house. Oldest child, Jamie, sat in on some of the talks about gun safety and such. She was able to recite the 4 safety rules without problem.

So later that year, we go over to her families for Christmas dinner. They had a big toy box for all the grandkids, and Jamie found a toy gun. She immediatly points it at her mom, and yells "BANG". Mom looks at her and says, "now Jamie, what's the rule?" With downcast eyes, Jamie says " 2 to the chest, one to the head. Keep shooting until they're down." Mom starts saying "no, no, the other rule!" but the damage was done. Holy crap. I thought Grandma was going to have a stroke. I almost pissed myself trying not to laugh.
