Misfits Patch Vote!!!

How many barfers would have to ask you not to use the barf logo before you reconsider?

Maybe ask a mod to add the poll option. Maybe start another poll? You are making a patch for your community, why not ask the other community you are including to weigh in? Seems like some have already, only their votes don't count as they aren't 'misfits'...

This whole weirdness could have been avoided by the, what, 5 total "Misfits" just calling each other on the phone then buying 5 patches./ Thread.
Seems like most of the " misfit threads" are the same 3-5 misfits having conversations with each other about stuff that should be PM'd or emailed.
Breakfast meets and Rides have been great, but this patch thread is kinda silly and comes off as self-promo.
I hate to be a killjoy Koi but if the numbers just aren't there then you have your poll answer.[/B][/I] It's just that -as Revnort points out, the majority answer may not be listed on your poll. Since you don't care about the majority answer, why have a thread versus twitter?

Also, FTR NBSR forum existed for years, separate from Barf yet with many cross members. Now there's SCAM. No one here has a corner on the North Bay. And Berryessa isn't North Bay FTR. Just sayin'

Seems like a mouthful. Is that really the core issue that's got so many panties wadded up? If not, what exactly?

poll should just be the poll...asking which is better. not a bunch of stuff after it saying how barfer votes are less valuable than misfit's votes.

^^^^ So then, dare I say, you're not listening? You've been here less than 6 months... you're not "OG" anything at this point, Kiddo. And even within your little club, you're segregating even further? "You're OG, cuz you've been here a month... but you're not, cuz you've only been here 3 weeks, yo, and that's how us OG misfits roll!" Really?

And you're excluding those of us who do NOT consider ourselves "misfits" because we've managed to smile and be friendly at the various BARF functions we attend, and fit in just fine... and those who live too far away to want to spend 2-3 hours slabbing it to Napa... and those who simply ride too fast to be able to tag along on one of your "mellow" rides...
If you want to be a Misfit, that's great... I'm glad you found a niche where you feel you fit in... but taking the BARF name and creating a "club within a club" is totally NOT cool.

We don't want to be affiliated with some silly fish group offshoot.

Why not just have SuperMike make a few stickers for your half dozen members?
The Berryessa GP group had stickers but they didn't include barf on the sticker.
There were no problems.

I just think the OP doesn't get it.
I also think Dennis was too quick to give his approval.

The way I see it so far is that there are good arguments on both sides.

A little history about this misfits issue.

Koi likes to ride and has been around the North bay roads for quite a while. He started to organize some rides and invited all that wished to attend. For those of you that don't know Koi personally, he is quite a friendly, helpful, and concerned person.

In the beginning of the rides Koi let it to be known that he was not a leader, but would more like babysit noobs that wanted to have a good time practicing their motor riding. No one was left behind and the noobs that went on Koi's rides were well pleased with his leadership and he was supported as the leader of their group.

The name misfits was a derogatory remark that was given to the group by one rider that was riding with Koi. Then a few in the group picked up on that name and got Koi and a few others interested in creating a patch to show their pride in their group.

It was brought to Koi’s attention about the noobs and slow and stop issues with their bikes. Koi took it upon himself to ask for help and the organization of both parking lot practice and easy bike maintenance. He really made these noobs feel cared for.

The breakfasts have been great and everyone has had a wonderful time.

Koi has had some of the support of a few veteran riders in helping the noobs.

Now I do see how it is a concern of the BARF community at large. This patch with the BARF logo and another name is a issue that I am unaware of having been brought forward before. I do think that Koi should get the BARF community take on it or go with a patch without the BARF logo on it.

I myself am a misfit. I have never rode track, but have been riding for many years. I do enjoy BARF and I am more a rebel than a misfit, but I do understand their need to join together in support of each other.

I do support the misfits, but the patch thing I do see both sides. Again, my opinion is that the BARF logo should not be used if there is objection by the community at large. A poll should be taken for that.

Ok I am good and drunk and I find this amusing. I'll take a stab.

What's your 10 dollars buy you??? Absolutely nothing, not even a guarantee of a patch

1... we need the Misfit's to vote. I've got 25+ who I've ridden with in Misfit or Northbay Group rides who are considered a "Misfit" and so I'd hope to have atleast 15 Misfit's to vote. This poll will show who voted for what, and I've got a list.

2... Misfit vote's count more then BARF vote's... sorry BARF but it's just the way it is... if you have that much of a problem with your vote not counting, send me some $$$, come out on a Misfit ride or two, and it'll change the mind of those in power and ensure you get one of the patches you demanded.

You have a community. We have a community (including you). You want to use the name of both communities. Only one community has a real say. Those of us in the other community get nothing. Except discussion on a discussion forum. Remember you put it here. Why use the name if you don;t value the opinion? You honestly don't see how the above could be a bit off putting?? Especially from someone looking in from the outside?

It sounds like a club within a club. It's barf and not a club. Just good folks who like motorcycles. Further clarification in this thread has revealed you consider yourselves to be different from other barfers, and want to separate yourselves with the term misfits.

Just do as the OG's here suggested (of which I'm not) and make your patch, and add a barf patch. Easy peasy.

Do you guys really feel so alienated? I'm relatively new here and just started going to events, meets, and rides. It takes awhile but you get to know people. Most barfers still don't like me but shit man it's a public place. Keep me away There of course are groups of friends here. None of them have ever made me feel unwelcome. Quite the opposite actually.

Ps- BARF is nothing without it's petty infighting on the board. This is just my entertainment for the moment...I'll come ride you folks sometime. Maybe Sunday!

"Original Gangsta". It's used to refer to the people who've been around for awhile... the "originals"... the guys (& gals) who've put the years in. Every Founding Member is an OG... the people who've been on this forum for YEARS (like you) could be called an OG... it's like the opposite of "n00b"...

What's to stop the SF peeps from forming their own club? Southbay? East bay? At that point, why even have BARF?
You want to start your own club, by all means, go ahead. But no one on BARF is a misfit... we're riders, and racers. Everyone is welcome... no one should be excluded, and frankly, I loathe cliques... and deliberately creating one is crap.
