The whole idea is retarded.

Just the barf logo and the misfits logo together wouldn't be so bad, and I would be on board for that.

The fact that you want to personalize it with your stupid fish says quite a bit about your own narcissism.
"This is my group and we're going have our own patch, which of course, will have my name (the carp) on it."

Take a step back and look at it from someone elses point of view.

Like I said, if it was just a barf misfit patch, I'd buy one.
The one with the fish, not so much.

Too many explanations...Someone sees the patch and asks "What's the fish about?"

To be honest, I wouldn't join the group or wear the patch because I'm not Koi's (or anybody else's) anything. I'm my own person.

And the description I keep seeing in this thread of the Misfits really describes all of BARF. There is no "typical" BARF member. I've commented many times about how I've become great friends with so many people with whom I have nothing in common other than a love of motorcycles. People I never would have met or ever associated with if we hadn't been brought together by motorcycles (and BARF). I mean, as motorcyclists, aren't we all "misfits" in some little way?

There have been plenty of groups that had stickers made: Berryessa GP, Redwood GP, Pie Ride, just none of them have come soliciting donations to get their projects done they just made it happen. Probably why you are getting the grief you're getting, 'misfits.'

It's too bad Koi threw both his name and Barf's into this patch blah: The "Misfit" people are actually quite nice to be around in person. Intelligent, funny and kind. But on the net they just come across as a bad syrupy Saturday morning cartoon.: Still, I'll ride with who I want to when I want to despite the public rep of speed, popularity or stupidity one might have here.
This is " 'Merica" We all started "slower" than we are now and most were a little childlike in our exhuberance when we joined Barf. Hellz, Do your thing...just don't make ME be part of it if I don't want to.

Bottom line: The association by BARF logo crosses that line of conformity. Leave it out and this nothing more than the Kitchen Sink thread might take a turn for the better versus the emabrrassing.

Honestly... after the discussion we had when I was asking for advice on the design... only 1 would be needed to ask me not to do a patch with the BARF logo displayed here on the website... and that would be Budman... Since the huge outcry before about me attempting this and the outrage that I had not consulted with him first, he would be the one who's opinion I would respect on the issue... but only about using the logo directly from the website.... And since he has not only given permission for us to use the four letters, "A", "B", "F", and "R" in whichever order we choose, as well as given me permission to use the logo directly from the website, I'm not sure what to tell you all.

If I or anyone else on this planet wants to make a patch with their own money using the word "Barf", the word "Misfits", and the image of a koi fish, that does not directly copy/use any of the imagery from this website, unfortunately there is not a damn thing anyone can do about it...

Let's all stop now! The patch will happen in one way or another. All you who want want..can have one..they will cost what they cost to recoup only the cost of what we paid..noone is profitting from anything..well..cept the patchmaker! We are a few and growing and will wear our patches proudly and continue to promote BARF as we do so.


Believe me...WE all know, in our short, wet behind the ears months here on BARF know how BARF is..we know the tough love, crazy shit, funniness and everything else that is BARF and that is why we all love it and promote it! I hang with non-BARFers who say they HATE BARF and that is fine..but I turn around and tell them all the positive stuff that has come from it..including my group of "misfit" buddies up here..maybe we need to go to Dani's suggestion last week and change it to Koi's Shiny Happys...would that be better for you all??

Enuf said on this..really..come MEET us rather than dog us online..so much is lost in translation on this stew we called BARF...

What it is..a group of riders who come together for meals, rides, training excercises, camping and friendships beyond the "hey, let's ride this sunday..okay..Im in..okay..great ride..Bye" that seems to mostly happen around here. So what if we are misfits or shiny happys..we be moto riding buddies at the core..what is so wrong with that? Main reason we all want to associate and indentify our little group is because we have fun and trust each other on the road..and welcome all riders of any skill level to come on over and eat, ride and BS with us..

We will take our final patch design offline...no reason to involve yo all in the discussion since you don't want one, don't want to ride with us or hang with us..so why bother asking, right? Thanks for playing!!

The bolded part is WRONG ! If you participated beyond your lil group of "misfits" you'd realize that and understand where most are coming from.

I think its great you guys have formed your friendships and such but to bash the other members of the greater group is just uncool.

You state others are anti-social, have you actually attended any meets or socials away from your lil breakfast group ?? If you have I doubt you would bash the group as you have.

There are cliques a plenty on BARF but what you guys do that the others don't, is suggest that you're outcasts and misfits and that we hate you, sorry, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

Koi, why do you need use the barf logo in your groups patch? Barf is a forum, not a motorcycle club. Why don't you start your own northbay website or club page or something?

All of us here belong to barf, we don't all belong to your misfits club, most probably don't want to join your club. So by putting barf on your patch it kinda implies to the outside world that anyone on barf is also a part of your group.

I think you should start a thread in the Social Gatherings section, dedicated to your club. You can design patches, organize rides, and do your thing there. While still using barf.

It's cool you want to have a club, but lumping all barfers into it is kinda weird.

I was a misfit before the misfits were formed. I have been with BARF before the misfits were even about. Even I am a misfit I was well welcomed by the BARF community at large and have been to many events that BARF enjoys and have met many exciting people that I call my friends.

I dont need to belong to a smaller group to belong to BARF. I am a real misfit and I am a rebel and I ride my own ride along with the best, maybe I am slower, but not by much, but the BARF community accepts me because I accept them.

I never wanted to be something less or more, just my own that enjoys the company of others that watch out for my back.
