Our state politicians hide behind a curtain basically. They accept tons of lobbyist influence but do little. Then our laws are created by the initiative process where we pass often badly-written law via proposition that fails 70% of court challenges according to some pundit I saw on PBS.
I express frustration at our Dem leadership in California and its interpreted as ideological opposition by many of you. But really, it's just that they are a comfortable, corrupt club and are insulated by their majority. Jerry Brown has been the lion tamer of these kooks lately and I don't have much confidence in incoming Gov. Nuisance, but I hope he'll continue with whip and chair.
So, no, I dont expect much penalty for PG&E. Even this time. The only change would be other party or independent challengers actually getting in there and putting on the UV light. I know and understand how little regard people have from Calif GOP types, but I will continue to support them in futility on election day if I have no other choice. But with our new primary system, I often don't even have that choice (best of two).

Did i miss something, have they found a cause? Everybody wants to hang PG&E and i'm usually in line with that but not so fast on this one.
How about homeowners, landowners, counties, cities etc that dont maintain their trees and or brush around the power lines or rightaways. Wheres the responsibilty when your tree falls, due to (drought related, ignorance or natural occurence) and falls across the power lines causing the wire to break?
Is that PG&Es fault you didnt maintain your shit? PG&E should start charging hefty fines to come out and maintain your tree(s) or when it is your trees cause they should go after you or your insurance.

Electricity isn't something you can do without or just change your plan and buy from a competitor instead (least I don't think thats an option). No surprise they're going to pass on the costs to the customer.
