IMHO using the MUNI shooting story about any gun issue is not a good thing to do. They have been saying this was a case of the bad guy just "hunting."
But start looking a little closer and things don't seem so random. I heard they went to the same college. I also think they live in the same general area which infer same MUNI train all of the time.
Random "Hunting" cases like this are so very, very rare.... so rare that I am more inclined to believe that we are not getting all of the info about this case, possibly due to a political agenda....
Of course I am probably wrong because we all know that political agendas absolutely never ever occurr in the City and County of San Francisco.

I bet he acquired all his guns legally, and there is no simple fix to mental health background checks in the near future.

+1. The usual, fairly mindless retort is that guns are "designed" to kill people, while sportbikes are just modes of transportation (that happen to be fast).

Yeah, and to me, the comparison (guns, sportbikes, why you need them hmmm????) is philosophically sound. The notion that we should outlaw certain things/practices, which 99.9999% of people can responsibly handle, to accommodate the lowest common denominator makes no sense, and is a slippery slope.
This is obvious, but much better to ensure that those constituting the lowest common denominator are not allowed to abuse ________.

I am an advocate for open carry, I belong to a club that does shows in temecula. We have shootouts and teach gun awareness. Doesn't mean I am going to start shooting into the crowd

However misguided I like to believe that these threads have some potential to change peoples perspectives and opinions. Keeping that in mind I suggest that most people attempt to follow Jake's advice and not being inflammatory anus.
Following that thought I suggest you take Heidi up on her offer to take you shooting Daks. Worst that can happen is you'll have fun. Might even get the bug. And if you hate it at least your argument will be an informed one.

To my knowledge, Daks has so far ignored invites from at least 5 people in various threads who have offered to take her shooting in a fairly polite manner - certainly far more polite than her posts have been on the subject. I do not believe she has any interest in educating herself or being more open minded about guns.
Prove me wrong Daks. We've agreed on other topics in other threads and if you get along with Hooli you can't be all that bad
I'll reiterate my offer here and I'm pretty sure most of the BARF militia agree when we say we'd be happy to take you shooting and politely inform and instruct you on the proper safe usage of firearms. Between us we have everything from little pew to big bang for you to shoot .3 things that are guaranteed to get a BARFer's motor running - race gas, gun smoke, and the right perfume/cologne
I gotta admit though - every time I see Daks post something about guns, my face mimics my avatar.
