AFM make up race weekend choices

1-- YOU showed up at the races because YOU believed that the races might run. YOU are the club. Dont put that on others.
2-- WE dont make the tire vendors stock anything. What they choose to stock is based on what they think that they will sell. If we raced in the rain, then they may or may not choose to bring rain tires. Its their choice, not ours.

1-Really? Because if I WAS the club, this wouldn't be a discussion, this wouldn't be put on me without an oportunity for feedback. Funny the BoD took months to approve adding AFemme a pure revenue generating class, but this decision
can be made in one meeting.
2- Try running a rain race and when the tire vendors can't provide all 150-200 racers with tires, lets see how that goes over.

I'm tired and cranky, I need to log off.

1--the decision that was made, was to hold a make up race. that's it.
-- the afemme class was very very disorganized when it was first presented. Lana pushed one agenda, Joy/ Christy another. It took a while for the presentation to develope. When it did, the BoD listened.

-- The AFM is a member run club. You are a member. It is your club. If you choose not to participate in it's runnings, then that is your choice.

2-- It is NOT for the club to require vendors to carry a specific /certain inventory. They are their own businesses, they make their own decisions, just as a racer who waits until the last minute to secure a set of rain tires only to find out they cant get any made their own decision not to call ahead and guarantee a set.
If we were to require a certain inventory, then we'd probably have to guarantee a profit as well. Does this still work for you?

nope. Having one rain race a year maybe is frkkn loser proposition. Vendors needs must also be considered, it IS a two way street. If I was a tire vendor I'd be furious if I was told AFM was going to change the rain policy. So I would basically have to stock $20k of tires that I either got stuck with or if lucky sold half of. In the Northwest it's not an issue. For one MAYBE rain day a year it is an issue. Another $500 pissed away, and you better get them if you are seriously racing, today's DOTs are shit in the rain and wet.

Agreed on vendor needs, but it is still not the clubs place nor position to tell them what to stock.
If the policy were to change, they would be notified and then could make the appropriate decisions for their businesses.

NONE of the tire vendors at AFM events provide tire service to JUST the AFM.

Part of the VP job is dealing with the vendors. I had one phone call from Dunlop before the rain out event asking if he should bring wets. No one else called to ask as they already knew the answer (Dunlop vendor is new this year)
Dunlop already has them in stock as they supply the west coast. I 'm pretty sure Pirelli has the same supply area.
Maybe the seemingly less popular brands like Bridgestone would have a problem, but they also wouldnt need to carry quite so many. I dont know about Michelin.

I'm sure the tire vendors took a hit anyways.

Something recently occured to me...

When the AFM reduced the race schedule for the year down to 7 races, a large part of the justification was that with more race weekends the average rider can not attend all race weekends (albeit money or schedule issues) and hence more rounds had less turn out. By reducing the number of rounds, each round is more likley to be more higly populated.

Someone please correct me if I am remembering this incorrectly.

Yet, suddendly it is pushed that adding another round this year with only 2 months notice will increase the revenue for the AFM.

Thoughts...

I think the AFM needs to send out an email to members telling them to check the AFM.org thread ASAP and vote. If we have a decision coming by the 15th, we can not rely on all members checking the afm site or BARF and must send a direct email.

Arin, I am a fan of yours already, cuz I like how you push yourself to compete. But just some words of wisdom from an old guy, probably twice your age, for you to use or not, racing is not a trackday. Also, respect the old gal Infineon. She's probably a lot like you I bet, disrespect her and she will kick your ass ;) Also, no one likes to ride around sketchy riders so respect is a two way street girl, you are young and have lots of time.

I don't doubt that your time will come as a front runner, but pass your first couple weekends of racing without incident. Hint, while your riding a reserved game to pass the elements to advance your license status, break down the riders around you and learn their weak points. Use the rest of this season to come up with a 2012 Championship strategy.

OH! a 50lb advantage plus or minus, can be used in a lot of ways:bump :laughing well that's the best icon I could find, but being heavier will be harder for you to push out of the way is what I mean. I don't want anyone thinking I would bump anyone off the track. :|

If you ever have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
