whats a tow? im guessin its some sort of coaching from a faster rider to follow his lines?

Thats the scariest fucking thing Ive ever heard.

'Freak Accident' or not, its still inexcusable. He very easily could have died out there. Thats sooo sad. I hope he gets ROYALLY compensated.

While it's true that one of the reasons that bike track days are relatively inexpensive is that there are not a full compliment of turn lurkers

Not sure who you run the car days with, but so far the auto days have been on par with bike days regarding cost (about 170 for a one day, 250 for a two day) through NASA, and the track is almost FULLY staffed, most flag stations, and a complement in the main control tower.

I can tell you first hand that if he did leave the track after the exit curbing in one, he might have even gotten missed by a full crew, as that is a very unusual place to leave the track

If he left the track after the inside berm, he would be blowing right past the flag station which is just past the outside strip on that turn. Shit, when I came through there too hot as I was sliding to the outside I was thinking "well shit, I'm going to take out the flag station"

Also, the start/finish tower probably could not see this occur, as the track is going downhill at that point. Besides, Turbo or whoever is working the start/finish tower would not be looking that direction, instead, the main flagger person is looking down the front straight towards T15 and not looking behind them into one. Even the guy in T5 might not be able to see past the exit of one, as there is a hill between T5 and T2

The crowsnest might be able to see this. BUT the guys in the main control tower can see EVERYTHING on the track, and there should be at least 1-2 people in there doing nothing but watching the track while everyone else works the radios and whatnot.

So if you've never been to a track day or race weekend, don't let this incident make it seem like it's just as unsafe as canyon roads.
That's not representative of the usual experience.

You are correct, something like this doesn't normally happen...the fact that it *DID* happen is complete and utter bullshit, someone needs a wake-up call over this, Fr0ng is damned lucky he isn't dead, laying there bleeding out while the understaffed track crew is trying to juggle 25 balls with one arm in a sling.

This is almost too incredible to believe!

I've met, hung out with, and filmed fr0ng since the beginning and when he's at the track he's a completely focused on just one thing... riding. It's really unfortunate to read the details of how he went down because he definitely has some talent.

Heal up quick my friend.

Damn, that's fucked up. Shouldn't have to send a search and rescue team out at a track... you biff it, folks are supposed to be on you like, now.... not find you all effed up an hour later.

Sami, heal up, man.

Prayers and karma and well-wishes sailing in your direction... catch!

I'm really glad to hear he'll be getting cared for at Stanford.

You've got my prayers, Sam

Damn you've got some nice form in the pic above :wow I hope you're back on the horse soon...

Jesus H. Christ. Truly, truly bizarre.

Get better Sami. You've got folks here, on SBR, and 600rr.net pulling for ya.

Lemme know when visitors are allowed, I'm sure the power ranger will appreciate ppl stopping in to check on him. Kidrr, John, Vitaly, all you fella's- keep your heads up and let him know he's got nothing but support coming from over here. Sami will bounce back stronger than ever, if his parents let him :shhh

Here's to you Sami :Port

I’m sorry to hear about your accident fr0ng; it sounds brutal!:( I’m glad to hear you’re alive and I wish you a fast recovery. I can’t believe the negligence that was shown by the workers there! Are you going to pursue litigation?

OK first of all, how could nobody have seen him go off course and all that dust clouds that probably came up after turn 1? Are you serious nobody saw this, nobody in the pits saw him go up there? And jesus christ, there needs to be a better system where there's at least a haybail up there to stop people who run to the top of the hill. Had he run even further he'd be fucking dead by now.

This is extremely dangerous and I'm pretty pissed about it.

Fr0ng get well soon, you unlucky fucker. Despite all the ribbing I give you, I like you a lot.

That's some crazy shiiit! Glad to know the dude's in good care now.

This kinda shit should never happen again. Someone should be looking out if it's their job.
